Karen Khachanov Blacked out Racket!

He posted this to his IG reel:

Which is what I expected the Nishikori 98 to look like. But if I'm being honest, the bottom of the throat does not look like what Karen is using (it looks more Shift or RF shaped). However, where the hoop and throat meet does indeed look similar.

It look a pre interesting shape/mold, the throat looks to be designed (in combination with the layup) to allow some flex in this area, very Yonex OPS-esqe IMO

Apparently a blue-ish looking thing with “VV” logo at 12, launching in Oz on 16/07/25… so says the email from yesterday…
yes, the Ultra is launching next week, but I don't think KK's frame is one and the blacked out frames above don't really look like KN's 98 Tour mold

havent been really following this or him in gerenal, and lost interest on the Ultra line after using the UT2.0 extensively quite a few years ago when i was living in London, and pkayed mainly on the hard courts...
seems to be a nice PJ for the V5 though.

Those are Ezone DR, per my messages with him. But I’m not sure why he had captioned it with KK tag

Tennisracketseu posts a lot of pics but does not know the real info. He has been contacted a few times about incorrect release posts with different brands. Cool content but does rely on others for real leaks and info.
He does come up with some good stuff, like recently the Ezone Shanghai Sample.

I heard from a former pro friend this weekend, that Wilson is scrapping the Shift silo and will be introducing this racket as a new silo. Wilson seeing many players going to the PA98, they wanted to tap into that market as well. He got to hit with the prototype, and he said it was awesome. Looking forward to seeing this future release

So maybe the Kobra is coming back but under a different name/model? And no I’m not saying the one Khachanov is using is a Kobra

Really interesting- is this a rumor or do you think it is already in motion? I think someone on this forum was talking about shift v2

Im guessing its already in motion. There are protoypes of the Shift v2 around, but seeing as how the Shift v1 had such bad reviews across the board, scrapping it for something else with greater hype might be the way to go.

Kobra reborn... That would be special.
Yes change the name.. but don't let the current marketing and sales folks name it..
Shift, clash, burn etc..

Perhaps the patent is over with the Pure Aero as that Diadem has the Aero Throat..

In other sports Wilson has equipment called Authority.
It would be a great name for a Prestige type line but due to heritage it's already called ProStaff.
So why not Wilson Authority? ;)

Any indication of when we'd see this announced officially? Very interesting

Sorry if this has already been answered but is the blacked out frame Karen is playing with now the same mold as the “new” Stefanos racquet but different string pattern?
Or still unknown?

Noooooo I love the Shift 300g. It’s such a great frame but I think Wilson messed up with the stock weight coming in so low so often. I lead all mine up to around 315 SW strung. My lowest copy came in 300 STRUNG SW.

It’s unique and can take a while to get used to and find the right string set ups to control the power/spin. Once I did I played some of my best tennis with it.

Is the new Wilson aero really going to be called the Taper?
Oh dear if so.. perhaps the Zipper name would be better..

I think they bring it back as Kobra. It’s basically what that racquet was in the past. That’s the market they’re going after.

I think so. I was in the Toronto airport last weekend and saw another Wilson sponsored player with a bag full of these blacked out frames.

Hashtagtennis had a post earlier this week that it’s a new Wilson silo called the Python. Wilson must have let their players test it, many liked it and have started maining it.

Python would be a good name. From my rep I was told Project python in an internal project code, but I’m all aboard the python train

Colton Smith now sponsored head to toe by Wilson with a blackout Aero looking racquet (potentially his old Babolat blacked out still, but certainly interesting timing)
