Another interesting first round matchup at the Indianapolis Championships has the devastating serving Ivo Karlovic vs the comebacking Nicolas Kiefer. Kiefer made a semifinal last week, but sadly had to withdraw with injury. It will be interesting to see if he has recovered. Nicolas is a very complete player with alot of power from all parts of the court. Will be interesting to see how this matches up with Ivo and his monster serve.

I love watching Karlovic serve. Dont really enjoy anything else, but his serve always makes any match he plays vs any opponent suspenseful.

Karlovic saves match point, forces tie breaker, and finally pulls it out. Phew. He made that a tough one.

Excellent recovery and tie-break from Katlovic. His match scores are no longer his winning because of tie-breaks. He's added a lot to his game, and his coach should be commended for helping to put him on track.

The winner will meet Sam Querrey for (hopefully) another good match.

Earlier in the year Querrey gave Ivo his worst loss 6-3, 6-2, possibly his worst beating of all time. However Querrey's only won something like one match since then. I'm hoping we see some tiebreakers this time because I don't see Ivo breaking Querrey's serve.

Hey, I was reading the little statement in your profile.

What about Joachim Johansson, when he is healthy?

I do like Johansson but have kind of given up on him. I heard he had another (3rd at least) shoulder surgery this Spring. Not sure we'll ever see him again. I don't know if the shoulder injuries are related but if so, at some point I think he just has to give up. Really sucks, he definitely had top 10 talent. Sad how so many players, Rios, Mangus Norman, Kuerten, were top 10 or actually #1 and ended up having to stop really young due to injuries. It must be unbelievably frustrating to be so good and have to quit playing. I'm just a 4.0 but have been out with golfer's elbow for almost two years and even at this level it's incredibly frustrating, can't imagine what it's like when you've got talent to win grand slams and make millions of dollars.

Think his motivation and belief that he can maybe come back and give it another chance. He just turned 25, and will maybe give it one more go at it. But I agree how injuries can be very frustrating; no matter what level you’re playing.
