Im more trying to determine if its more or less rectangular than a head pallet shapeWell I don’t have the sharpest racquet eyes, however I know Federer gets a custom handle molded to his hand shape. Does that answer your questions?
That’s your opinion. For me rectangular grip is good only for continental grip. But Wilson shape is better for all shots. The older head/Volkl grips were the best..
That rectangle shape locks into your hand nicely..and easy to adjust in play..
Considering Federer said he's always played Wilson (the very first frame is dad bought him was a Wilson) I would say that the grip is very close to Wilson. I don't know that anyone's eyes are keen enough to discern a rectangular grip from a random photo on the internet.![]()
does this look like the wilson handle shape to you?
At least one grip for you, for me only eastern forehand grip (which I don't use) would work with it, for all other shots it feels completely instable, worst of all OHBH.That’s your opinion. For me rectangular grip is good only for continental grip. But Wilson shape is better for all shots.

Fed? With Volkl ? Which one?Yeah, Custom grip... But he played with a Volkl racket when he was younger, and they had a grip thats shaped like the head grip. Maybe thats what he still likes?
Could it be just that picture with Peter Carter where racquets are crossed? I didn't know Fed used Volkl ever. Not an expert by any means on Feds history so curious myselfFed? With Volkl ? Which one?
The racquets are crossed, the Volkl is Peter Carter’s.Could it be just that picture with Peter Carter where racquets are crossed? I didn't know Fed used Volkl ever. Not an expert by any means on Feds history so curious myself
that's very interesting i didn't know that.My oldest Wilsons have a rounder grip shape than the current ones. It’s not even sided like Prince, but much closer to being even than the current shape. Angell grip shape C is pretty much identical. IMO the rounder shape feels more solid in my hand and I feel more connected/have better control over the racquet face. Heres a better picture of Fed’s grip shape:
You know I kind of remember that too! But I don't think stories are there for longer than 24 hrs on Instagram.that's very interesting i didn't know that.
kind of unrelated to the thread but related to the instagram profile you shared, do you have one of his stories where there's a bunch of destroyed handles on the ground with a caption along the liens of "im a racket tech so part of my job is destroying factory handles" or something like that?
I remember seeing a photo like that on twitter, might check there. You know I kind of remember that too! But I don't think stories are there for longer than 24 hrs on Instagram.
Thanks! Will go hunting for some pics shortly!I remember seeing a photo like that on twitter, might check there.
Not the one I was looking for but close, it was the little metal bits that are inside the handle that I wanted to seeYou know I kind of remember that too! But I don't think stories are there for longer than 24 hrs on Instagram.
I’d love to get a step by step guide on how they do it, but I don’t think it’s ever likely to happen. I think the color is because it’s a different density of foam than what gets used for retail.I love seeing the white “polyurethane or whatever material “ foam handles .
I like the white , for some reason ..
They look so comfy makes me wanna hold it in my hand .
you know just the other day i was watching a video about some pro / customization shop and I saw the actual machine that presses the polyerethane live on a racket ill post it if i find itI’d love to get a step by step guide on how they do it, but I don’t think it’s ever likely to happen.
