was his tension always in the 40s? I thought it used to be mid-high 50s...i could be completely wrong though

I've seen pictures of his racquet with the stringing label stating "49/51 lbs" when he used poly/gut.

Also, interestingly, the article quotes the stringer as saying most of the players were requesting tensions in the 40's, and even players who string at higher tensions like Goffin are only stringing it in the low 50's. And apparently the Bryan Bros strung the poly in their hybrid set up at about 40 or 38 lbs.

Better feel, more power, more spin. (At least, in a midsize.) Also, less string adjusting (which says something given that there was already little need for it to begin with).

What I want to know, was if that order said 5/7/7 or 5/1/1. I can't imagine he brought 19 rackets with him. It must've been 5/1/1 on the order right? 5 rackets standard tension, 1 high, 1 low.

It will be 5/1/1. The 1's look like 7's as that is how the french write them (since TF is a French company and at least one of those stringers is French.

Because it's 4G in the crosses and gut in the mains
no I'm saying that having gut in the mains is a bette ruse for gut than gut in the crosses since you don't get the majority of the feel from the gut and therefore is a waste if money since you could just as well be using a multi.

you need gut in crosses to get the Power and poly in the main to get the Spin......................Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Spin comes 90% from swinging which he did well, now he needs more power which gut main definitely gives more.
how do you know the MAIN is the string that provide power Not crosses..... I was told Cross string is the one that provide the power and feel

Doesn't Fed use natural gut in the mains and Luxilon Alu Power Rough in the crosses? He prefers a cushier string bed, though durability is not as impressive, there’s greater feel in this setup.

The normal hybrid setup Poly mains/NG crosses. By using the softer strings in the crosses, it decreases the harshness that can be found in a full bed of poly without suffering inadequate durability.

I guess Kei is trying to soften his string bed for more feel or may have been getting a bit of tendinitis and changed his setup.

I'm french and I don't write my sevens that way.

Now that the pros are starting to go lower with poly, hopefully average joes will catch on and sportshops won't look at me with the same disdain when I say I want 37# in the mains.
