Kerber to Andreescu: you're the biggest drama queen ever"

Fair enough. I won't try to change your opinion. Lord knows it probably wouldn't do any good, and that's fine. I don't care, but IMO this has much more to do with Kerber simply being angry about losing twice to someone she probably considers herself to be superior to at this point. I think that's being underestimated, and I have yet to hear a good argument against Kerber likely never in a million years saying something like that to Sharapova or Serena for example. So it's a lot of sour grapes for me.
I had no reason to dislike this girl, and I honestly don't even like Kerber all that much.

My opinion is subject to change. We'll see how she matures as a player, and if she cleans up her act I won't have a problem with her. But this was one of the worst possible first impressions.

Yes, we'll see. After all it's not like Kerber hasn't retired down 5-0 before she was just about to lose the match once before . This is why I laugh at a lot of drama that happens in tennis, and on the WTA in particular. It's all very catty. Kerber is throwing around these insults without looking in the mirror. And then her PR team is covering the damage. LOL.

The responses to this post of one of Kerber's people (does not sound like Kerber, must be some one else) has attracted a huge negative response from those

who watched the reaction of Kerber to the loss.

These are reactions on Kerber's own post, no less, where you would expect to see a more friendly response.

Now, what happens going forward when these two players meet again (which they eventually will).

How does the air get cleaned? Something has to happen between now and then.

The WTA has to step forward and find a resolution, otherwise we will continue to get these vigilante nonsense attacks on court.

There should be a resolution meeting under the auspices of the association where the principles involved in these spontaneous explosions are

settled to the satisfaction of all parties.

Otherwise, these type of issues continue to fester and create ongoing problems.

For example, what happens at the Canadian Open this year?

LOL, I remember that retirement. Like I said, I am not a big Kerber fan. But just because it may be hypocritical, it doesn't mean it's not warranted.

If Tomic were to voice his displeasure at someone tanking a match, it shouldn't be taken less seriously than Federer making the same criticism

Agree. Don't agree with you on the overall issue for now so we'll have to wait and see how it turns out.

That was indeed unfortunate.

Especially for a player with the movement of Davenport, the hands of Radwanska, the power of Serena Williams, and the IQ of Hingis, as one poster here assured me that she is.

If you are gonna quote me, at least do it correctly genius.

I said she had the movement of Kim Clisters, not Davenport.

Who would want to move like Davenport, she was a slug.

Next time try watching a whole match instead of just the highlights, you might learn something.

Some odd posters are a little sluggish, too.
I love how they think they know how Bianca plays based just off of highlights.

The highlights only show her moonballs & drop shots.

If they would actually bother to watch her play a whole match they would see how she can also hit with power and play defense with the best of them.

Whatever dude.

You don't even know the difference between Kim Clisters and Lindsey Davenport LOL
Oh, I know it, I just couldn't bother to check what rubbish you have written, as it doesn't make sense anyway.

Now, continue with your inane babbling. I don't think that you or your friend here have anything of note to contribute with. Apparently after 4 times writing the same thing you still couldn't understand it, so normal conversation is impossible.

Adios.

I reposted the Kerber communication above on this page, it shows you how strongly the public reaction has been in favour of Bianca and against Kerber's

vigilante tactic.

Hope you enjoy reading it.

Why would anyone ever brag about having the movement of Davenport though?

Davenport was one of the slowest players of all time, even a rookie would know that.

You exposed your own lack of knowledge with that post LOL

I just finished watching the highlights of the kerber Andreescu match and heard kerber say to her, "you're the biggest drama queen ever", at the net.
I'm a huge Kerber fan, but that sort of bitchyness is totally inappropriate and uncalled for.
She is usually so humble and should just accept that she lost to a better player. Bianca is on the rise and is not going away anytime soon.

I haven't heard much about this exchange in the news just yet, but feel like if Serena or someone else had done it, it would be in the headlines.

Come on Angie, you won 3 slams, at 3 different tournaments you should be grateful for the career you've had so far.

You should be ashamed of yourself girl!
not if she was completely correct about it. and she was....

The Andreescu/Kerber soap opera will continue into the Spring months. I hope NK injects some more on his commentary to fire this up to another level. Will these two meet in the coming weeks? Let’s hope it is very soon rather then later. Kerber will like that!

It will continue to fester until the association does something to stop vigilante tactics.

I am concerned about the Canadian Open this year, it might get nasty.

I'm generally on Andreescu's side but a lot of those games seemed to go to deuce (or game point Andreescu) before Kontaveit won them. The score after 9 games could have been drastically different on another day.

A veteran like Kerber, who has never made such comments in the past, must have had a strong reason to say this.

Nothing "circular" about seeing someone act sick/hurt/injured/tired, then magically turn on the afterburners to win anyway and conclude that it's gamesmanship and fakery
So if someone appears hurt and wins they are faking. If someone appears hurt then retires they are faking to avoid a thrashing. See where all conclusions circle back to fit a narrative that can’t be proven. And we want to believe this unprovable narrative because of a sour grapes comment from a salty competitor?

Sounds like a great way to assess a situation.

We now have a report that Andreescu had shoulder surgery last year, plus a stress fracture in her foot, so some MTO usage is normal.

Using only one MTO, which is all Andreescu took, is not unusual, Kerber herself did this.

No, this has nothing to do with Bianca, it is all about Kerber and how she deals, or doesn't deal, with losses.

I never said it can be proven. You can only look at the facts and draw your own conclusions.

It is my opinion that it's faked, given her age, the results of the matches and how she played, and her retirement history. This opinion is subject to change if contradicting evidence is presented.

Again, this incident has nothing to do with Andreescu, it is all about Kerber.

Andreescu behaved normally in taking only ONE MTO plus some crossover massage.

Kerber did the same, one MTO, some crossover massage. Kerber had no complaint about the MTO. Something else bothered her.

German media were wrong in their reportage, there was nothing unusual in these two players taking one MTO each. German media got it wrong.

Perhaps Kerber needs some advice or counselling, anger management is a well developed field.

But the WTA needs to resolve the issue before these two players meet again on the court.

If I were a player, I would not play against Kerber unless this was resolved.

I find it interesting that no player in the WTA has come to the defense of Andreescu in face of this supposedly terrible transgression from Kerber, who is no darling herself.

Maybe the players know something?

This is in the WTA's court now, the players have other things to do.

The overall governance of player behaviour is up to the association.

It may be difficult for the players in general to play the game if anger management problems are left unchecked.

If I were a player, I would decline to play against Kerber until this matter was resolved.

This matter has nothing to do with Andreescu, there was no unusual medical protocol issue, and Kerber was not upset about the MTO.

The matter has already been gone to trial and settled by Judge Kyrgios.

Kerber was found guilty of low-grade douchebaggery and sentenced to a month of internet ridicule plus being called "Bruh".

Hopefully she will turn her life around after this.

Booo, hoooo. Another smart guy. OK, for you too. I didn't even care what the guy said, let alone quote him correctly. Yes, Davenport was not a good mover, although she did start to move better after she shed a bit of weight and she was a big girl, so that of kind supposes it too. The point of repeating the tripe of the guy was irony. When someone starts making a puzzle of players that basically have little in common, you know that they are just spewing BS.

Kerber has been on the tour a long long time and probably knows a lot of WTA players both professionally and socially. She's never given any hint to being an isolated Maria Sharapova type figure or anything like that. Peers won't throw her to the wolves over one bad handshake.

Andreescu on the other hand - presumably she's an unknown character on tour (even if secretly she's a saint). She's younger than the majority of players and still beating them up. People aren't going to start tweeting en masse going 'leave her alone she's awesome!'

It is my opinion that it's faked, given her age, the results of the matches and how she played, and her retirement history. This opinion is subject to change if contradicting evidence is presented.
What are the facts:
1) Andreescu claimed a shoulder injury was why she needed timeouts
2) Andreescu came to matches with the shoulder taped
3) Andreescu told her coach in Indian Wells she was tired and running on fumes
4) Andreescu physically looked tired between points
5) Andreescu retired in round 4 stating it was because of the shoulder injury
6) Kerber called Andreescu a drama queen after a second loss in a week to the teen.

These are all facts. Your conclusion from these facts is that she is lying about her injury and fatigue as a gamesmanship tactic vs. the more obvious conclusion that Andreescu's shoulder is injured and she has been flagging fitness-wise late in matches. Occam's razor. Why draw a conclusion that is unnecessarily complicated when a simpler explanation will do?

How does you conclusion of gamesmanship take into account her fighting through her fatigue and injury to beat Begu when she was down a set and 1-5. I mean if you are using injuries to get out of being thrashed in a match, there would be the perfect time to retire, right? Or are we adding another layer to the complexity of your conclusion? Only some opponents are tank-worthy?

Wasn't that what Kyrgios text was all about?

I guess he's not WTA.

AS far as I know, none of the WTA professionals have been interviewed about it. Do you think they should be talking about something that is none of their business? It's probably stupid that we are talking about it and coming to anyone's defense.

It was a mean and rude remark that probably should be privately apologized for. And the rest of us need not worry about it. And probably shouldn't be piling on either side without more evidence to draw conclusions from.

Without the WTA asking questions, nothing will get resolved, it will fester, nasty stuff could well happen at the Canadian Open, future matches between these

two could be wild,...and so on.

It's in the WTA's court.

There was one MTO, only one, related to her shoulder, and some massages during a crossover...all completely within the rules. No one complained or challenged.

It must be something else. Like too much media attention for the new star on the block.
What is the big deal about a MTO? Kerber could use it as an opportunity to rest or whatever. If Kerber is thrown off by an opponents MTO she is mentally WEAK to begin with.

I really doubt that Kerber was bothered by the MTO...she even called an MTO herself, so they had one each.

I suspect that Kerber was bothered by Andreescu's fist pumps and screams, even though Kerber does them herself.

Bianca does it better.

Bianca also had the crowd behind her at both IW and Miami....that must hurt.

It also hurts some of the critical posters here, that the reigning Wimbledon champ is overshadowed by a rookie.

I can hear the pain.

She is a young Canadian underdog. It's natural that crowds in the U.S. will favor her over a sore-loser German.
"You're a drama queen", was a nasty thing to say. Bianca should have slapped her. But she already did that in the last 2 matches.

Rudest "handshake" I've ever seen. She didn't even look at Bianca to shake hands.
Turned away and muttered her insult. I think Bianca may have heard her, as there was a very small crowd, but just let it go.

Kerber or this other girl could win the calendar year grand slam and you wouldn’t get 7 pages on TTW (unless it was about how difficult it is to do compared to how difficult it is in the men’s game).

This is what the WTA desperately needs.

Her right (serving) shoulder reportedly had surgery last year, she is essentially still in post op recovery, it is not yet 100%.

She has skipped Charleston next week to take timeout to heal up.

Amazing that she won IW last week, helped by MTO. Amazing.

You have got the right idea, this is a potential gold mine, possibly bigger than Riggs/King.

We have to add a bit of showbiz to make it really take off, Riggs understood that.

I have an idea....the right costumes are essential.
