Kevlar hybrid tension?

Currently have my Wilson Steam 99LS strung with Tour Bite 1.25 mains (48 pounds) and Gosen OG Sheep Micro Super 1.25 crosses (51 pounds).

Getting ready to try the Ashaway Crossfire ZX hybrid in it: Ashaway 1.25 Kevlar+ mains and Ashaway MonoGut ZX Pro 1.22 crosses.

Any suggestion on what tension I should try with this Kevlar hybrid?

Thanks for any and all help.

I have used Tour Bite at 52lbs in the past, now use Crossfire ZX. The Zyex adds a good deal of power. I would try 50/45 Kevlar/Zyex. Be sure to get a good stretch on the Zyex, so it doesn't lose a bunch of tension.

So you would put the kevlar at a higher tension than the cross?

I was thinking 42 mains (kevlar) and 46 crosses (zx).

Thanks for the input!

Yes, I would recommend tensioning the crosses lower. There is a whole thread on stringing the Monogut zx lower than the Kevlar. You will get better spin, and the free moving Kevlar will absorb more shock than if it were locked up with tighter crosses. I would really recommend 50/45 based on your independent variable (Tour bite), because I think you might find 42/46 too powerful. If you have 2 racquets you might try both setups. I haven't tried the tensioning the ZX higher yet, so let me know how it plays if you go that route.

Triple B,
I'm curious to hear what you say about that lower tensioning of that hybrid. Another fella and I play Ashaway Kevlar and Zyex exclusively and we tend to like 60lbs Kevlar/62lbs Zyex. It settles in lower in a short while.

I would keep the tensions up especially the zx, it is very springy. I tried the alledged Magic set up of stringing the kevlar at 65 and the zx at 45 and it was way to powerful.

Of coarse it all depends on what you want, some prefer the added power that the zx adds. I have found that a kevkar main with poly x's to play very good. There is no set up I have found to give that level of control and freedom to swing out and still keep the ball in.

kevlar poly at 40/50

Using in a kblade 98:
Gamma Kevlar 19 at 40/ Cross L-tec premium 4s 17 at 45. Tempted to go lower at 35/40 next time.
