Kevlar Hybrid

I'm gonna be testing out a kevlar/natural gut hybrid.

Which plays better - Ashaway Crossfire II or Forten Thin Blend 18? Keep in mind I will be using Klip Legend 16 in the crosses and this hybrid will be going in a K90.

Thanks!

I used Thin Blend for a few months adn freshly strung it sounds like the ball is exploding when you make contact. They were great strings and pretty stringer friendly. The mains however did tend to break rather quickly, I use POGs (very open), so I went back to a thicker kevlar hybrid. I did use Crossfire II and ProBlend, Crossfire offerd a little more bite becase of the textured kevlar. I personally would go with a poly in the mains rather than kevlar with legend in the crosses though.

Thin Blend is thinner and softer, but less durable. It plays more like Crossfire 18g than the Crossfire II.

Would Crossfire II's stiffness be irrelevant, Since Natural Gut is in the crosses.

But if you are talking about its effects on the arm. i think the fact that gut is in the crosses, should make is close to nothing. It should be a pretty comfortable ride.

Let us know how it fans out.

id NEVER use pro blend, its rated as the least shock absorbing string BY FAR, nat gut is in the 100's poly's 200's and kevlars 400 and up, and the Pro blend is the highest at high 900's. that will make your arm hurt for sure!
Try Gamma Fusion 19, I coupled it with X-cel 17 and its great!

I used Problend for 15 years before switching to Crossfire recently. Yes it's stiffer, but it gives unparalled control in a powerful frame, especially when paired with an elastic cross string like nat gut. The first ten of those years I used it at 78 lbs in a Profile 2.7 OS (RA 84), and my arm was fine. Then I used it at 70 lbs in a Prostaff 4.7 OS - great bite.
