Keys/Kerber match?... Anyone?... Bueller?...

I'm fine with both of these sluggers, but I was sort of bummed out when the match never showed up through the course of the day's replays here in the lower 48. No dvr here, but I expected to see a little encore showing somewhere. Then I read about what a non-event it was - 51 minutes worth of one-way traffic. Ugh!! Hoping Miss Maddie gets back on the good foot and makes a dent at Indian Wells or Miami.

Wondering whether I missed it? Did anybody catch a replay?

As Wed. went by, I saw Fed's match with Berdych get at least partially replayed... FOUR different times between TC and ESPN!! Nauseatingly repetitive, especially with all the other action going in Melbourne. The Sandgren/Chung match caught some re-runs, too.

Now the day before this match, the tennis mafia on TV was hyping the Keys/Kerber quarter as the popcorn match of the day. No surprise considering that one of their own - Lindsay Davenport - is coaching Keys. And without a Williams sister to idolize, the ESPN formula for who-knows-what (can't bring myself to call it success) is to get the "U-S-A!!" chant going. So the limelight shifted to Keys.

Can't help but think that they swept this match under the rug. Bad look.

Not sure what you are saying exactly. it was a bad match and the semis happened the following day so no reason to replay it. You can watch it on espn 3.

I don't want to hear the sheep at ESPN or Tennis Channel say that Madison is a Grand Slam contender, she's not. She will beat all the people that she should but when it comes to heavies she just can't hang. She is the female James Blake, one speed, no plan B. Angie owns Madison and if you thought that match was going to be any different you aren't paying attention.

I agree with all of that EXCEPT Madison not being a grand slam contender. Actually she is (as she proved last year by making the final of the US Open). And Sloane Stephens was arguably even LESS of a contender than Keys, and she won!

Just that they hyped the snot out of it and then didn't give it even an abbreviated rerun on either of the two channels I'm already paying for now. Since the semis weren't on until the next day, I'd appreciate them doing more than pretending that one of their darlings DIDN'T lay an egg, especially after all the billing they gave that match. But the ESPN/TC "coverage" has been a weak product for a while now.
