Keys to Yonex?

Add 2022 and 2023 Australian Opens. Add 2024 Wimbledon.
You must be referring to doubles, because at last check, 2022 & 2023 Aussie Opens were Wilson, Babolat & Head (Barty, Sabalenka, Djokovic, Sinner, Nadal), and 2024 Wimbledon was Babolat & Head (Alcaraz & Krejcikova).

2022 Wimbledon, however, was a Yonex frame in Rybakina.

Correct. Those players are also grand slam champions (Hsieh Su-wei, Taylor Townsend, Nick Kyrgios, Heliovara, Hijikata, Siegmund).

Yes, I think it's referring to GS champs in doubles - '22 was Kyrios and Kokkinakis (both Ezone), '23 AO was Hijikata (Ezone) and '24 Wimby was Heliovaara (Percept). If you count womens GS doubles champs, there has been a Yonex player every year since 2012 (between Hingis, Hlavackova, Vandeweghe, Hsieh, Garcia, Babos, Siegemund, Zvonareva, Townsend)

Seeing multiple sources of info (and weeding through the wild discussion going on above), is it confirmed anywhere that she's on the Ezone 98 2025? I've seen everything from 100 (which I get it shouldn't be due to the mains in the throat) bit I've also seen some claims she's on a 98+. Also if anyone has her string and tension these days I'd be happy to know!

it sure looks like 100 sq inches to me,, head is huge and she can't control it and spraying the ball all over the place against Rybakina

It's 98.

It's a 100? String pattern looks more like a 98.

Last cross is significantly lower on 100 than on 98.

You have forgotten Stan the man, Rios, Richard Krajicek, Washington. Prince not sponsoring anyone has created a vacuum. Yonex has benefitted form that. Yonex has always been a big player on both tours and always had big names. I remember as a kid when the first isometric graphite rackets came out with the R-7 and R-10. Was very popular at the clubs.

Not to mention one of the most dominant women of their time. Hingis and Seles

Ha, on the ESPN coverage of the Svitolina match they were talking about how much better Keys was playing with her new racket (without naming the brand) and using poly instead of gut, and at one point calling the strings “Lux” (I’m not saying they really know the brand of strings)

Every poly string is "Lux" to most of the commentators that were former players I assume because that's all they know about. Luxilon was, arguably, the first poly string in wide use across the pro ranks and may still be the most widely used brand even now. When they talk to current players, Luxilon probably gets mentioned 7 times out of 10. Just a guess.

Looks like she has the stencil now though on the blacked out frames
Probably waiting until the next tournament to switch to the new paintjob. I can't say that I can think of a case where a player has "changed racquets" in the middle of a tournament.

I believe Agassi did during one of the French Opens. He had some Donnay prototypes that were wide bodies. He may have even broken them on court. Then he went back to his Pro Ones.

Yonex reps peeing in their pants right now. This racket sale in the states just went up 300 % with this win by Keys. Think about it Yonex makes Keys win the first major ever.

The Donnay wide body model you're referring to is called the Ultimate Pro which I think is what Agassi was testing. It was the 1990 French Open but the racquet wouldn't be released until 1991 along with the matching cosmetic standard Pro One. I, personally, don't see that as a "switch" mainly because of how brief his time was with the racquet (in the public eye). The way he treated those racquets was like he was just playing with them the first time ever during that French Open.

Regarding Keys, I was mostly referring to the fact that she most likely wouldn't have non-blacked Yonexes in her bag to signal a switch. She had no deal at the beginning of the year going into Adelaide and she didn't want to give Yonex the publicity. Suddenly, she's playing the AO with a Yonex stencil which ultimately signals that she's inked a deal, but in the middle of a tournament it's unlikely she'd switch to a branded racquet from a blacked out racket. It's probably more psychological anything. In Agassi's case, he just went back to what he was already using. Just my .02.

So many players have gone to Yonex.
Is it just great marketing and recruitment by Yonex with good racquet deals?
Do players see other players doing well, so they figure lets give Yonex a try and is it just in their heads?
Or does Yonex have some special going on with their secret sauce?

Seemed we had a similar trend with Babolat about 10 years ago? Flailing pros would switch to Babolat in an effort to retain some glory? Plus their racquets look good?
At this point I see more players with Yonex than Babolat. It’s probably a combination of everything you mentioned. Very good modern playing racquets that have had their popularity soared by countless touring pros promoting them.

Babolat on ATP tour is basically just Pure Aero. Now they have PD with Mpetschi Perricard. But Pure Strike is practically gone after Thiem.

Yonex on ATP has all their range in the hands of top top players - vcore fonseca/paul, ezone ruud/shelton, percept tiafoe/wawrinka
WTA - vcore rybakina/paolini, ezone osaka/pegula/keys, percept yastremska

Yonex has been doing great work with advertising their rackets and catching big names to their brand.

Ain't no denying it..big power when kept within the lines wins matches..
Question is who will spray less in the final..? Whoever does will win..

I feel that Madi will crumble in the final. Last time she played in GS final, Serena Williams was still on tour.

Sabalenka will just eat.

i have to try that string.. but i don't see it coming in purple ? and why does she use the purple color ? does it play different than other colors ?
it's the best color per racketpedia stats.. was discussed in an older thread. I find it a curious she chose a muted string for an already muted frame.

In one of her last matches a commentator reported Keys is "In negotiation" with "a new brand", He probabaly wasn't allowed to name brands. And that she already sports the logo on the strings as a courtesy. Probably to establish trust or to get a better deal.

Shame though the blacked out frame with the glossy paint finish and the blue grommets and bumper guard will not be on any production model. I like the glossy black with blue combination very much!

Keys' racquets will probably be getting the (already boring) blue Ezone color

i can't find anywhere on this site or racketpedia that Purple color performed the best....

She used H19 which is soft with gut so I wouldn’t say she likes the crisp

Can anyone give insight why a flat hitter like her would want to use Rev? Isn't that shaped?
I was on both playtests here for Poly Tour REV. The consensus was…it’s really not that “spinny” of a string:
