Khachanov is here to stay

This US Open is getting better and better. All the mugs (in tt) are winning now...anyone other than Sinner or Alcaraz would be even better.

He's more talented than Nick and true case of what if he tried. A better BH, better FH and return than Kyrgios. He will never win a masters let alone a slam.

I wasn't impressed with Khachanov. His western grip seems very limiting. Kyrgios should have won, and needs to forget doubles.

Getting a coach and upping commitment are still high on the agenda, if he can find his planner.

Kyrgios only won 42% of second serve points, while KK won 64%. This stat indicates that Khachanov completely dominated the rallies. Any suggestion that Kyrgios should have won seems a stretch.

It's true that he dominated the rallies, but the result of the match was much closer than that statistic would indicate.

Kyrgios basically flushed the first set down the toilet, and then pretended to be injured to hide his emotional pain.

Yes. I agree with this part of your analysis. However, I would say that pretending to be injured is a sign of mental weakness, not a sign that he should have won.

Moscow Mule is nice, but A Boy Named Karen will be gone again soon. Too one-dimensional, even by today's standards.

Yes, well, we are still hoping that he would lose his mental weakness, or at least some or us are, so that first set ending was not a good sign.

Kyrgios is a very creative player, whereas Khachanov is more consistent. The rally stat demonstrates that.

If only the fourth set tie-break form were maintained. I saw that at the time as a sign of a good fifth set. It was not.

That version of Nadal would have been enough to win the US Open this year, unfortunately, since the abdominal tear, the Spanish player has already lost confidence and he has not returned to be the same player of the first half of the season.

That fh grip and technique tho is very unconventional.

Well Sinner or Alcaraz would have been hard for even that Nadal. But what is evident from that clip is the Nadal we saw in North America was not even his shadow. The Kyrgios loss though shuts down the absurd suggestion Nadal avoided him at Wimbledon. Kyrgios is average and wonrt ever crack the top 20 again

I suspect Kyrgios cracks the top 20 on Monday...
