Khachanov, Medvedev, Rublev = Tsonga, Monfils, Gasquet ?

Khachanov, Medvedev and Rublev are all promising young players. It reminds me of the French 10 years ago when Tsonga, Monfils and Gasquet were also full of promises. Unfortunately, these guys never won Grand Slams.

Do you think the Russians will follow the same way ?

My opinion is that they will all get to the top 10 like the French did but won't ever win a Grand Slam title also. For me, these will be split between Zverev, Shapovalov, Tsitsipas, Auger Aliassime, Draper and other guys during the next decade.

I do think Khachanov may win a major someday. He will be competing against the likes of Tiafoe and Edmund

I dont see Edmund and Tiafoe competing for the slams either. Tiafoe has no weapons and he uses his wrist too much on his forehand which will cause him some injuries IMO. Edmund on the contrary has a huge FH but I think he won't be complete enough.

I think Tsitsipas, Zverev, Coric - would be top 3 and Khachanov , Thiem following them.

Shapavalov seems to have few flaws but should still make it to top 8. I don't see anything impressive about Tiafoe , Edmund. Also don't think Medvedev will win anything big. Rublev has big groundstrokes but he is a baseliner.

But i see Nishikori in the mix for a few years.

Khachanov's game is huge! When he's on, he can hit most players right off the court. Tough to sustain that power for a long 5-set tournament, but I think he can do it.... if he gets hot and stays hot for a few weeks. Rublev is a very predictable ball-basher but could eventually make waves at the French. Medvedev is the most cerebral of the bunch and perhaps the most adaptable. I could see him go deep at Wimbledon. Taken together, they are guaranteeing a pretty bright future for Russian tennis.
