This is political correctness gone mad. Back in my day, nobody told us off if we couldn't spell foriegn names or words! Most of them don't even make any sense. What's wrong with good, honest, English-sounding names like Rudd? Reminds me of that poncey chap who used to wear suits on the telly and witter on about Europe and didn't like it when people called him Farridge!

It is. You are demanding that good, honest, English-speaking folk should learn the ways of bleedin' foriegners. That's political correctness. In the good, old-fashioned ways that political correctness is always banging on about against, they had to learn our ways. Why are all the tennis players from Eastern Europe these days, anyway? No wonder they all have such unfathomable names! In my day, they were from places like Australia, and thus they had sensible names that nobody would have trouble spelling such as McNamara or McNamee.

Name is a name. Correct spelling requirement is language independent, it doesn't matter in what language it is.

You are whining like a snowflake and take offence at simple spelling errors, which is all the more surprising given that I saw your excellent post decrying those snowflakes taking offence at Kyrgios earlier today. I also wonder why people get so offended these days. Back in my day, we just shut up and got on with it! Alas, it seems that even those who are aware of the problem, such as yourself, sometimes succumb to it themselves.

Well, RUUD is from Norway, not Eastern Europe so no excuse for mis-spelling HIS name.

No excuses needed, snowflake! People don't need to get so up in arms about things these days. There's no need for a spelling police, and, besides, a little bit of Anglicisation is a good thing. Rudd it is.

Also, Norwedgians are still bleedin' foriegners! Not sure why you think that excuses are needed for misspelling their names given that you accept that nobody need to go to the trouble of learning all those ova-s and pova-s. Shaparova sure was a good player but it was bloomin' impossible to remember how to spell her name.

Personally I am not offended at all. It's just a lack of respect when you misspell well-known player's surname. I've created this topic just to remind what is the correct spelling, nothing more that that.
