That McMahon meme is usually funny, but it made me tear up a little in this context lol.
The fact that it’s over drives home the reality that from here on out, anyone that gets into tennis from now on will not have seen this guy play live. They’ll really have no idea how great he actually was in the heat of the moment, it’s just not something you can experience after its over and grasp how great he was. We are the ones that know. The reaction to his retirement news for other sporting greats says all we need to know really. The fact that it’s over drives home the reality that from here on out, anyone that gets into tennis from now on will not have seen this guy play live. "Never bet against Rafa Nadal" in one picture.I will never forget this one. The epicness at its finest.
Thank you bestie I’m kinda glad he’s not going to continue slogging away with guys that have no business even sniffing a break of his serve. The 20 year davis cup anniversary in spain definitely feels right. His inevitable tribute at RG next year better be unbelievable. You knew It was coming for some time now, he was just not the same. Legendary career, the most intense and the most clutch player I've ever seen. No one will ever dominate anything in tennis the way he did clay, 14 FOs is just set in stone for eternity.
Big 3 era is ending. Only Novak remains, but I have a feeling he'll probably call it quits in 2025.
Thank You Rafa. Thank you for all those matches , being a corner stone for the Sport for 21 years. Bringing the kind of passion that nobody did.
Also Thank you to all Rafa fans. So many of them have left. So many still remain. Thank you for being a part of Tennis community.
Also I don't remember her username but there was a Rafa fan from here who identified way back in 2004 and made a website dedicated to him. It later merged with the official site.
Rafa had the most amazing fans. And I am sure they will remain his fans for life.
I still don’t know what she did to get banned lol. Then again, only a few of us survived those days of moderationIt's VamosRafa. I remember her from back in the day.
Tennis News
Just thought I'd mention that my days of doing player websites are over, and I'm now devoting myself to collecting and writing tennis news. And I'm really enjoying it. We collect news regarding the pros, college tennis and also the juniors. And I try to post as much as I can about the...tt.tennis-warehouse.com
I’m surprised it took so long for a post attempt to derail thread. He’s easily in the top 10 sportsmen of all time list. So are Federer and Djokovic. Djokovic is number 1
Summed up so eloquently magnificently encapsulatedThe great man! A tennis immortal.
Very rare for a player to come along like Rafa who can inspire the heart and the head quite as powerfully as he could in equal measure. The blinding athleticism, the passion and the indomitable will to win combined with that amazing tennis IQ, precise point construction and an amazingly controlled and respectful demeanour on court.
Rafa’s lovable personality and pragmatic approach to playing in some ways kind of obscured his amazing pure tennis talent. Can’t think of too many players who had his mixture of feel, raw power and racquetface awareness who could wield their weapons in such an idiosyncratic and jaw-dropping way.
Tennis has had many great players but Rafa was one of the ultra rare lightning bolts. One of the few in the sport’s entire history who was so different to anyone else who had come before that he shocked the game and was playing on his own unique terms right from the start. What’s even crazier he kept that fire going for almost 2 decades
Tennis GOAT, ATG, HOF’er, and global sports legend.
What a career.
Dude, let it go. Nadal is an incredible champion and one of the most important players in tennis history. He leaves an incredible mark on the game. And his presence, like that of other greats will be missed, even if tennis continues to move on.Only won his second AO title because Djokovic wasn't there.
Needs to have a giant asterisks on this one.

I would hope not again.Ok I'll be more positive. Nadal's greatest accomplishment was beating puerta at the FO. Think of it, a 19 year old was able to beat an experienced player who was on PEDs. We will never see anything like this again.
Agree, disagree hitman???
I would hope not again.
Medvedevs tennis-funeral...I will never forget this one. The epicness at its finest.
The three will meet at the end of 2025 at the Finnish Legends Open.

Rafa played tennis like a working class gladiator, and spoke like a middle class diplomat. That's a rare combination. The great man! A tennis immortal.

They used to have this great 40 min tribute video on youtube about Nadal's comeback in 2013 which got removed.
Best tennis tribute video of all time. Yeah yeah yeah….. where they at where they at where they atttt
Agree. No one has built a GOAT level career in quite the same way. Very idiosyncratic and unique player. A rare birds even amongst other ATGs.Rafa played tennis like a working class gladiator, and spoke like a middle class diplomat. That's a rare combination.
That match point forehand against Jan Leonard Struff is hilarious. The guy is shaking hands with Nadal and almost smiling still trying to figure out how the match is over. He had complete control of the point and boom!… Nadal shuts the gate from nowhere
'Surely the most EMOTIONAL day of my time as a commentator , I see it and cry again'
The amount of grown men he made cry with this win was unprecedented
