Kirschbaum Max Power

It's not as powerful as ALU Power, and it is a stiffer string. That being said, it has FAR better tension maintenance and retains playability for a lot longer.

ALU is amazing full bed, but a waste as a cross string. Max Power is the ideal smooth poly cross in my opinion when using gut or other soft synthetic main strings.

Ive used it with Natural and Synthetic Gut mains and it is unreal.

I've only used the rough version. It's stiffer and lower powered than ALU but still has a bit of nice pop to it. Spin about the same, lasts way longer. Good string

I really like the feel and playability so bought a 200m reel of the rough version. It is close to Alu but ever so slightly lower powered. Alu is the gold standard.

Too stiff for a full bed?

I think kirschbaum proline ll 16g is the closest to Alu power 16L . It’s even a 16g and not 16L.

Best string. Been using it for years. Tension maintenance is miles better.
Compared to 4g? I may make a switch depending on this thread and how it plays. I do gut/poly and my setup has been 4g crosses gut mains, however I’ve heard it’s good for cross.

I have used both as crosses with gut mains. 4G gave me a wrist injury years ago which was the catalyst for the massive string testing mission I have been on since.

4G is a lot stiffer than Max Power. Max Power is a stiff string, but no where near 4G levels. Both have comparable tension maintenance too. I find despite not being as stiff as 4G , Max Power offers just as good control.

It is cheap as, give it a go next time instead of 4G and I am fairly sure you will make the switch.

Compared to 4g as a cross...it’s not quite as firm of a feel (machine tension/strung at ~53 as a cross), but definitely not a sponge. About on par power wise with 4g. It is defiantly dent resistant and lasts quite a while 12-15 hours of play for me) as a cross to a 16g gut. 4gSoft is another option kind of in between...maybe more ALU-like in performance but holds tension well too.

Seems most people feel its a stiff string but my experience was the opposite. At low 50's pretty comfortable in a full bed.

Has incredible tension maintenance and longevity. I use it in a hybrid and my stringjobs seem to last far far longer than full poly or past hybrids. I pair it with Gosen og sheep micro syn gut and it just lasts and lasts.

He nailed it. 100% agree

This will be my next cross string to try with gut, although i committed to a reel of red code wax and at the rate im going it may take 2-3 years to use up. Haha

The TWU string comparison indicates that 17g max power is stiffer than 16g. Can anyone with experience with the different gauges of the string comment on whether there’s a noticeable difference in stringbed stiffness?

the outer coating of max power is not as slick as some other polys such as revolve or sppp...

The more I play with low tension ALU full bed the more I like it, even side by side to a natural gut VS/ALU hybrid.
I just don't jive with the ALU as a cross and much prefer Tourna Black Zone or Wilson Revolve as a cross.
Max Power just felt like a stiff piece of wire as a cross but it's a stiff string. I prefer softer strings.
I've learned over time that tension maintenance isn't a means to an end.
Polyester strings, especially if strung at higher tension, can over stretch and lose their playability much faster than losing their playability due to tension loss.
Best bet is to use a string that you enjoy for 6-8h and then restring.
No point finding a holy grail amazing tension maintenance string that you can hit 30 hours with as by that time the poly is already toast. This applies to cross strings in hybrid too.

I had a quick hit with the Max Power 1.20. Strung in DR98 at 48/46. Very nice/direct ball feel. Plushly crisp at contact. About average power for a poly. Not lower powered at all. Very predictable string bed. String slide/snap back was not that great but that didnt bother me. The only thing is after 1 hour my elbow started to feel it - discomfort level was 2-3 out of 10. It's not ALU but still a very nice string in its own way. I will definitely give it some more time. If longevity is considered, its cost is about 1/4 or 1/5 of ALU's.

I have been using this string for couple of years, full bed 45-48LB on my 2011 Wilson Pro Open racquets. Love it, Contrary to observations above, I feel it's softer than other round polys at this tension. Very good control and less power. Let's you take a big cut at the ball. Very consistent.

Standout trait of this string is very good tension maintenance. Other polys go dead in couple of sessions. But this one goes on for couple of months. I play twice a week.

@raguhtheman I had the exact same experience. Didn't feel stiff at all at 22kg. Instead, it felt great! Medium-to-low powered strings are my preference and Kirschbaum Max Power was exactly that, so I disagreed with the name it's given. Overall, it's a great string.
