Klip Legend / Solnico Revolution hybrid!

I'm sure I'm not the only gut/poly user who's always looking for the best poly cross. My go to crosses for a while have been MSC-Cofocus paired with the Bab VS mains or one frame, and WC Silverstring paired with Klip mains on the other (all 17g).
Since the Klip is firmer than VS I like to pair it with a softer poly in the cross, whereas the firmness of co-focus is a good balance with the more plush feeling VS.

When I used to play all poly or poly/syn-gut cross Tour Bite was my favorite poly, but it's a shaped string with edges that cut through the gut too fast. So I decided to give Revolution a try after reading that it was supoosed to be a lot like tourbite without the edges. (although it does apear to still have some shape to it, not as much as TB). Strung up at 53/45 on EXO3 Tour I have to say it felt fantastic the first time out today. Usually the Klip feels kind of stiff at first and requires a little break in. But with the Revolution cross the first hit felt like VS. I had basically the same power and control that I get from the other two set-ups, but it just *felt* really good. More crisp than Silverstring but also still soft.

I'll have to see how it feels after a week, and whether it cuts through the mains too quick. But so far I'm thinking it could replace the Silverstring for the pairing with clip, and possibly the combo would eliminate VS from the equation altoghther saving $15 per pack of gut.

Revolution has edges also. If you like the Solinco strings, get the Outlast. It's their round string, and it plays well too. I'm surprised you opted for Solinco when you said you look for a soft poly. Solinco strings are fairly stiff--even in their 18g. They're really nice strings, just not soft. Maybe try their Outlast 18 and see if that works.

I wouldn't say outlast is stiff for a poly. I used to use it and know a couple people who use babolat vs mains outlast crosses.

The EXO3 frame has such a different feel to it that perception of strings can be a little different. I judge Revolution to be soft feeling based on how it mitigates the stiff feel of Klip gut relative to VS. I considered outlast, but it seemed the reviews weren't as enthusiastic as Revolution or Tourbite.
I might try it though just to be thorough, as I do really like Solinco strings.

MarinaHigh--you are stringing it correctly--low tension. That's what Solinco strings are designed to be strung at. As you probably know, so many people string their poly's at 57-60 and wonder why their arms hurt. Solinco strings are supposed to be strung low. The 18g helps some, but even that gauge is pretty stiff for poly.

thought I'd give an update. I'm on my second stringing of this hybrid and still love it. I got about 3 weeks out of the 1st one before the mains snapped. I'd guess about 30-40 hrs. It felt great to the end.

The 2nd stringing was just as good. I kept it at 53/45. I'm at about 2 weeks with this one, almost no notching yet, though I did put in a couple of string savers in places where it looked like notches might be soon forming. Still feels great, though I can feel the dying poly a little bit.

Today in another frame I tried Solinco Outlast as a cross with VS, equally great! I just love Solinco strings!
