Klippermate Stringing machine

Anyone has a Klippermate string machine? How is your experience with it? I am thinking about getting one. I am just wondering weather it works fine with such a low price ($135).

The first stringer I had was a Klippermate. I thought it was a good value and would recommend to someone looking for an inexpensive stringer.

It's pretty good, the clamps can be a nuisance at times but for the cost it's very good buy for anyone looking for an effective, inexpensive machine that'll do the job. Just make sure you read the instructions and try it out on a racquet you care little about before doing it on your main racquets.. don't want to mess up an expensive racquet due to inexperience :P

If you want other options do a search as there are a couple of other stringers in the same price range that are also pretty good. I've upgraded from a Klipper to a Laserfibre MS200tt (several times more expensive) and although the MS200tt is much nicer and easier to use, I have to say that the Klipper was an excellent value.

Mine is great. Strung about 18 racquets in 3 months and string jobs have always been good. Mounting system looks "agricultural" but it works well and it is very easy to mount racquets. Clamps work well and don't slip if you sand every half dozen jobs. Took me a while to get the hang of the string gripper but now I"m stringing in under an hour.

I have a question also, im looking to buy an inexpensive stringing machine and i hear alot of good things about klippermate. My only question is are there any problems are concerns i should have about stringing my prince o3 white on this? i dont really know anything about stringing so forgive me if it sounds dumb. thanx

Since the Klippermate dosn't have a proper brake, you will need to get the "bommerang" tool from Prince.

thanks for the tip. Do you think its worth investing into another machine? I rather just have something that is easy to use, willing to spend around 300. Also i couldnt find anywhere that sells the boomerang tool, do i have to call prince? being a beginner i rather have an easy to use machine.

I absolutely love mine and feel it's better than comparable Gamma models. . . but I also love to string, would love to do more, and hence, I'm always wishing I could upgrade in order to do more stringing! But I don't do more than my own frame and an occasional friend's frame, so it really fits the bill for this quantity.

i have no doubt its a good machine but i just dont want to be in a hole if i cant successfully string my O3 with it. Cant seem to even find a dealer that sells the boomerang tool.

One should have came with your O3

I string my Red O3 on my Klippermate without any problems. You do need the Boomerang (crikey!!!) tool though and Prince would no doubt attend to that on request. Because of the O ports, you will need to use a washer against the start pin to stop it from puliing through the port, but once again, this is no problem.

I string my wife's 03 White with Klippermate (2 racquets, about once a month).

Like mentioned earlier, you'll need the boomerang tool. If you bought the racquet from a local shop, ask them if they can give you one. Or you can call Prince, will get it in about a week, no charge.

You'll only use the boomerang for stringing thru the O ports on the cross strings. It is recommeded to increase the tension a little when tensioning using the tool. There was some dicussion on this board a few months ago about it causing about 2-5lbs tension loss due to 'friction'. My preference is +3lbs.

Also, the Klippermate is a 2 point mounting, 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. The O racquets have a dampener at 6 o'clock and you'll need to be careful to string thru the dampener string hole, not the O port. I missed it once and had to redo  With the 6 o'clock mounting, just take extra care as there is not much room.

Overall, I like the Klippermate very much. Able to get accurate and consistant sting jobs out of it. Paid for itself many times over. Just a little more care in stringing the O racquets, maybe an additional 5 min time if that. To save that 5 min, you'll need to get a machine that have a brake and 6-point mount. That will cost quite a bit more than a Klippermate :)

Thanx for the confidence boost! I called prince and they said they would send me a boomerang tool, Im gonna order this machine. Looks to be a good investment, i hate having to wait up to 3 or more days for shops to string my raquets. Thanx again! i am truly grateful
