I posted this a while back but I'm still struggling with it.
My outer knee and thigh feel okay while playing, although I'm not sure my speed is 100%.
After I play, five minutes into the car ride home and I struggle with outer, upper knee pain. The pain will extend into my hip. I try to massage the area while I drive to ease the pain. I noticed that, if I put my knees together and fully straighten my posture, the pain eases a bit.
It's mostly my right leg, but both hurt. Recently, it will begin to ache whenever I'm seated for 10+ minutes, tennis or not.

A few more facts, by way of background:
I had an MRI on the right knee, which looks perfectly healthy.
I'm negative for Iliotibial Band syndrome, although the pain is right in that area.
The Doc's are happy to call it an "overuse injury" and tell me to "take a break," which I've done to no avail.
I've done some research (Thanks, Marius). The only diagnosis reasonably close is patellofemoral pain syndrome, simply based on the difficulty I'm having when the leg is static as opposed to active. Leg movement actually relieves the pain.
I use ankle supports; I'm worried that they might restrict the shin, knee or leg muscles somehow and are causing the problem.
Hamstring strength is super strong; squats are extremely weak, due to the pain involved in performing them. The first squat hurts. However, the tenth squat is manageable once the muscle "gets going."
I've changed shoes; I also bought the SuperFeet insoles. No success.
Any advice is welcomed.
