knot above shoulder blade...

Hi Guys.
I"m getting old, been trying to throw a football far, to no avail, and have 3 times developed a mouse sized knot just above my left shoulder blade, me lefty thrower, and tennis player. I can just barely reach the knot to knead it loose, but after 40 odd kneads, I do get tired from stretching my right arm all the way to the left shoulder blade.
This knot hinders all my strokes, and my vision also, because I can barely turn my head.
Other than waiting several days for it to go way, anything I can do? Besides suicide, I mean.
Thanks.

Take a tennis ball and roll it around the area, either laying down or against a wall. Adjust the pressure according to your pain tolerance.

Thanks, that's what I thought, more kneading. Been just reaching over my shoulder with my right hand to do it, but that does get tiring before the knot breaks.
Is it a sign of getting old, or is it just from overuse trying to throw a football as far as I can?

My docs theory its an old injury not properly healed. . . . so maybe massage, needling, plus RICE and time? Though time is running out . . . for us over the hill weekend warriors . . . :(
