Never done it, I would avoid doing it myself,
but it does look pretty clean
kudos for the attempt
Any issues while playing? Weird sounds?
the knot is right in the middle of the action, so to speak,,, but def a solution to your problem..

No issues while playing. “Middle of the action...” Well, I hit the ball in the sweet spot in the middle of the racket. Mostly

I have used a bloodknot tying different fishing line together. Using it on zyex might be interesting.

I do that fairly routinely with ZX as I can't seem to stop the stuff from snapping when being pulled. I've had knots inside and outside the frame. Not really pretty, but there's no issue with it holding and it plays fine. I'm lucky if ZX lasts 2 games before breaking so I can't afford to go through it even faster.

Yikes. Would that hold at 86 lbs??
Gut is too soft for you but Kevlar breaks at a knot pretty easy too. if you’re cutting just enough Kevlar off a reel then why would you ever want a patch?

@Bent I may never try what you’re doing, but I commend your effort and thanks for sharing. Although it is just a patch it does appear to be very neat. Have you ever tried to place the knot so it is outside the frame between the center mains?

I think it would work on ZX. But that’s just a guess.

for Those that want to reuse string when their mains or crosses break this my be a viable option. Say you string a frame with 20’ of gut and only use 17’. You can save the 3’ to splice on the end a couple of time. OMG i May have created monsters. LOL @Bent it all your fault. LOL

Yes, I started with knots outside the frame, but it was hard. The distance between the grommets is too small....

My experience with patching up broken strings is ok, but nowadays I almost only use new pieces (2-4 m) of gut and high end poly.

Correct. But only 2-3 overlaps, depending on the string. Polys are the easiest.

Have done 31 kg. on fragile multis.

Yes, I could be president of the “Cheap players club” (old thread).

Sustainability, reuse, don’t thow anything away etc. :)
If you’re only using 2-3 loops maybe a Surgeon’s knot would be a good choice.

Gut mains and round poly cross. Both 27 kg. Dropweight.

Modified POG mid.

I do this all the time (100+) and have free strings (only my own rackets) :)

This set up was a result of stringing 2 other rackets with gut and leaving me with 2x2,5 m pieces of gut.

Anyone else doing this ?
Very cool. I would like to see another on other main supporting Babolat O to provide for complete symmetric balance. They could even be used to insure the dampener does not separate by sliding against its bottom.

Good luck tying two knots with the frame and throat grommet in the center of the very short string connecting the two knots.

Never had need for this “balance”. My OCD is ok with just one knot :)

The dampener stays put just fine :)

POG Mid.

I have 3. All without the original paint.

Scraped it off (xx hours) and applied clear lacquer.

Balanced etc. 340g. 15 points HL.

Only 1 set of grommets left.....

Nice, you have classic style. Lets see some pics of the rackets. Bet they look super. Im a classic guy and love pogs, max 200g, ps85 and pc600s. I have many of these rackets and may do the same with some of my surplus. Atleast some new paint for the max rackets. BTW, love natty gut on these classics.

Looks like you may like gut mains with hurricane crosses ? That is also a super hybrid setup.

I play the same so its very recognizable to me.
I also like ALU for crosses. All these strings also play great as a full string job.
Agree. 22 kg. in my rackets is a little deader but not quite as crisp as with gut mains. But still fine.

Full poly gave me some elbow problems, wich I have fixed completely in the gym :)
