Know this, Novak Djokovic fans

G.O.A.T.
Your boy met his match today, and when Lendl has had longer with Zverev, he shall constantly defeat the Serb at all tournaments including the non-clay slams. There was literally nothing Novak Djokovic could do against Zverev’s monster serve and sublime passing shots.

Novak Djokovic shall forever remain behind Federer, the GOAT, in both slams and YECs.

So be it.

The thing that stroke me the most in this match is how clueless Djokovic was at the net. At times I was really embarrassed for him. I wonder how he could have survived in the 80s/90s amongst volley experts.

Don't be a d*ck about it. And don't count your chickens just yet. Djoko's still my favorite to end 2019 as world no. 1. This match doesn't change that.

He was born in 1987. Maybe it has something to do with it.

Well Djoker is the ONLY player among Fed, Nadal and Murray that held 4 consecutive GS AT THE SAME, 2015 WB, US and 2016 AO and FO. That has not been done since Rod Laver in men tennis. Even your GOAT Fed could NOT. Take that.

As far as Zverev is concern, until Zverev wins GS, he just needs to shut up. Winning Master 1000 and YEC, while it is a big achievement, it is NOT GS.

In a GS event, you have to win 3 out of 5 sets in a two weeks time frame. That's why GS is so much more difficult. That's why Zeverev best performance at GS was the QF at the 2018 FO and he was pushed to 5 sets in round of 2nd, 3rd and 4th round. Thiem just totally destroyed in the QF. At 2018 Wimbledon, Fritz pushed him to five sets in the 2nd round and then Gulbis finished off Zeverev in the fifth set 6-0 in the 3rd round. Do you see a pattern here? Even Coric beat Zeverev at the US open in 2017.

Until Zeverev makes it to the final of GS and win it, he just needs to shut up. He has not achieved anything yet.

I'm pretty sure he would've developed a different playing style. Approaching the net frequently or at least more often than today was immanent to the players in the 80s or 90s, so I don't think Nole would be any different.

Djokovic ran into someone today that was willing to trade shots with him all day and has the youth to do it. Zverev just has to find a way to make it to him in the latter stages of GS. He's serving bombs and his FH is not as much of a weakness if he's landing his serves in. I've noticed that he's pretty good on his accuracy on that side, landing it in the corner CC. It sets up a volley or a BH into the open court. He already has a good BH in most situations. Djokovic is having all kinds of problems with next gen.

Federer won most of his slams against a week Fields look at the competition at Djokovic has had to beat to win his slams

Well the thing is that he doesn't have great hands unlike Nadal and Murray for instance. He's just a great baseliner and that's sufficient to win 14 majors in today's game.

Definitely not as talented as Nadal and Murray when it comes to volleying, but had he played 20-30 years ago, he would've worked more on his volleys and improved them. Remember that he wasn't that great server either, but managed to make a weapon of his serve after working on it.

After their behavior yesterday after Zverev won and seeing this board today, this is the reason most tennis fans hate Federer fans. They really are a special bunch.

That's true, especially on the second serve. But volleying is a matter of feel. Remember Lendl, he worked a lot on his net game to win Wimbledon, but was never among the very best volleyers of his time.

Sad most threads are like this...this board has become way too polarizing.

Anyways congrats to Zverev and his fans. Played really amazing and Novak was not up to the task.

I wouldn't quite count Novak out yet at the AO

What a truckload of d*cks on both sides.

Today Novak met his match with Zverev, next time they meet Novak could bagel Zverev in straight sets. What the over-excitable and most annoying of the Djokovic fans need to grow up and understand is that Novak is an ATG but he's still not super-human. He's not going to win every match for the next 5 years and there are going to be tourneys (probably even GS) where he doesn't even make the SFs. That does not diminish Novak, his career or his right to stand as one of the best that ever picked up a tennis racket.

Can we now all stop competing for King Arsehole of TTW turd Island, PLEASE!

Yeah, Lendl is a good example indeed. Borg was before my time, but I watched the videos of his and wasn't that impressed with his volleying skills to be honest. Not that he was bad, but I didn't see anything spectacular and he still managed to win five times at Wimbledon. Could it be that the dead bounce on grass in those times helped players to get away with not that good hands?

I never seen Novak fans boo someone after a deserved win so yes Federer fans are worse. How is today retribution? Are they going to take away Djoker's #1 ranking and 2 Grand Slams this year? Ridiculous.
Fans at the stadium and fans here are two different things. Djoko trolls are the worst trolls ever. I saw Nadal fans rejoice today as well

Well I need to watch more footage from Borg matches at Wimbledon, because I always had the impression his net game although not comparable to McEnroe's was pretty decent. But yeah, the dead bounce on grass is one good explanation. We need an expert of this era here

The 80s and 90s Guys certainly didn’t hit passing shots with the speed, spin and angles that Zverev did tonight.

Your last request will never be met, but your middle paragraph is a great one. As for the thread itself, I'd only ask Federer fans to worry about Federer and Djokovic fans to worry about Djokovic, but unfortunately that will never happen.

Seriously how many of us would bother with this s*** if we had the money to be in London watching? I can't stop my life to go to London.
So TTW Fedfans are just poor version of those who booed Zverev.
In any possible way.

I wouldn't have booed him. I would've just been happy to be there to see Federer play. Win or lose. I understand the game because I've played it all my life and competed in high school and college. If a ball is loose on court, then the point must be stopped.

Of course, but I'm talking about very doable volleys for a tennis player of his stature.

Maybe he fluffed one or two at the most. It’s not that people didn’t miss in years gone by too.

The others were rockets coming his way.

I must take your word for granted bcs Novak fans on stands are well known for their bad behaviour ?
If you are lousy on court you are sure bad in forums as well. So pls lay off "Djokovic trolls" and mind your own group for once.

One or two ? More like four or five at some important moments, especially in first set. And it's worth mentioning because Djokovic realized he was not going to beat Zverev from the baseline, which is why he tried to finish points at the net.

I don't know what the f*** you're talking about really. Djokovic doesn't have enough fans in the stadium to take over a stadium LOL. you all act like s***, so be willing to take the s***
