Kvitova finally to win a non-Wimbledon major?

Surely her best opportunity, what with Cecchinato (okay, Collins) in the semis and then either Pliskova or Osaka in the final. Not that any of them are easy opponents, but she is at least firm favorite tomorrow.

And, if she does win, she will finally be the world #1. Something that should have happened in early 2012 at the latest.

FYI Collins and Kvitova played in Brisbane a few weeks ago. It lasted 3 hours and Collins served for the match.
I was going to say that too. I think she will be OK against Collins but anything can happen in the final. She might have the psychological advantage against Karolina as they are both Czech and Petra has a better career and more loved in their country. Regardless whether it is Karolina or Naomi, Petra is the better player and should win if she plays like Petra.

If Collins beats Kvitty, I'll change my avatar from Jules, to Danielle. (just for the duration of the AO) :sneaky:

I really enjoy watch Kvitova play she's such an amazing tennis player. For her to battle back after that terrible tragedy in her life is nothing short of extraordinary! I really think she's gonna win this AO.

I really didn't appreciate Courier had to bring that up in the interview. A glimpse of PTSD triggered expression there.
But yeah what a woman!

She also almost lost to Barty in the warm ups, but crushed her in Melbourne. Of course, she can lose to anyone. All I said is that she is firm favorite against Collins, not that she is guaranteed to win. I stand by that claim.

Full disclosure: I've got it BAD for more than a couple of them Czech ladies...

...but Petra looks better than ever!!

I was a little choked up when she made her initial comeback and if she can notch a title this weekend I'll be dancing a wee jig!
