Of course he plays the victim role, and even more so than Kyrgios if you ask me. He just is the clearly better tennis player of course.
But no way he gets better if people are against him. Or why do you think is he begging for applause and being loved every time? If that were true he would act like a Wrestling heel who enjoys being “hated”.
Djokovic is as unsecure as it gets. At the Australian Open last year he argued with the crowd when they were happy that Shapovalov won ONE set against him and ironically imitated their cheering. At RG he argued over the wind till he was hopelessly behind against Thiem, and later he discussed with the referee over a meaningless time violation over and over again until he barely realized that he lost a set in the meantime.
Look at Federer and Nadal, they are both cool as ice compared to Djokovic. They even showed it on the same day when they played their match horrible conditions without complaining.
When not everything is perfect for him, Djokovic turns from being the Ultimate Warrior to complaining or even being lethargic in no time.
It’s almost impossible to understand him though, and I wonder if he himself is able to.
At Wimbledon he almost didn’t celebrate when he had all the right to do so. Then at the WTF against Federer he was almost absent. But after winning a doubles match at the ATP Cup he acted like a gorilla yesterday.
