Kyrgios’ abnormal obsession with Djokovic continues

Kyrgios’ Novak Djokovic obsession takes a bizarre turn

He reportedly turned up to Serbia’s doubles tie against France which included Djokovic and Viktor Troicki pairing up against Nicolas Mahut and Eduard Roger-Vassellin and openly jeered at the Serbian teams efforts and staunchly supported the French team with a gang of friends with him. They all left when the Serbians went up 9-3 in the third set tie break.

This is just weird honestly. Why does he keep trying to pester the man? It’s obvious Djokovic doesn’t give a ****, what enjoyment could Nick possibly gain from doing this if his main goal to **** off Novak and get a reaction isn’t even working?

LOL!

Oh, he definitely does. As we so often see, he let’s himself get distracted by almost everything. And Kyrgios knows this very well. Even if Djokovic didn’t notice him there, then he will hear about and it could matter in their next match.

I strongly dislike such a behaviour, but IF someone wants to do that stuff, Djokovic is an easy victim. Federer and Nadal really wouldn’t care and beat him next time without much emotion, but not so Djokovic.

There have been LOTS of players attending other matches and cheering for whoever they want to win. That's not the only doubles match I've seen Nick at. Do you have video of Nick heckling Djokovic, because I was at that match and didn't see it. What I did see was almost continual disgraceful behaviour from Djokovic fans, which the single unsubstantiated and anonymous social media poster who claims Nick was heckling strangely failed to notice.
This post should get more likes. Who knows what Kyrgios's motivation is? Also, what's wrong with supporting the French even if he did cheer them on? As for the jeering, given Djokovic's abysmal volleying especially on low balls during the match I wouldn't be surprised if someone chuckled.

AO takes places in Melbourne, not Rome. So what Djokovic does on the clay in Europe is not an accurate representation of what he does on the hard courts of Melbourne. What he does in Melbourne is a representation of what he can do there. And bringing up a masters final as an equal to a grand slam final....come on, you can do better. :)

You mean, like losing in the 2nd Rnd to Istomin and in Rnd 16 to Chung?

Agree that Novak is aware of this Kyrgios behaviour... Any sane person would care if some idiot climbs on his shoulders and won't get down...

Disagree that Nadal doesn't care, he dislike Nick, and he showed that few times...

Federer would care too, but we won't see that because Nick is his barking dog... If someone start barking at him, Fed would show his real nature, that he show occasionally...

They are all humans, and its completely natural to be annoyed by bullies and idiots...

No, I mean by destroying Nadal in the slam final. Being the most decorated AO champion in history. At his best, Djokovic is the best at AO, which makes him the most dangerous.

If you are going to be throwing up the Istomin loss, and the loss to Chung - where he had to take time off for surgery as a representation of Djokovic's real form, then lets throw around Nadal 2015 and 2016 at RG, while we are at it.

Rafa never lost at RG in 2016. He gave Granollers a WO because of wrist injury.

So, you can excuse Nadal's issue at RG 2016 but ignore the fact that Djokovic had fragmented bone chip in his elbow that was causing him pain, when he lost to Chung, which he then went to remove immediately after the event with minor surgery. Nice. (y)

Had Nadal continued to play RG with that wrist injury, he would have lost eventually. He wasn't winning it that year.

Nick knows he's talented but hes not willing to put in the work that Novak does. Plus it prob gets to him that Novak doesn't give a f what he thinks.

So instead he does these things to get attention. Wish he'd just buckle down and let his racquet do the talking.

Rafa didn't lose. He won 100% of the matches he played at RG in 2016. In November 2018, Rafa underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a floating object in his ankle and was still recovering from it at the AO 2019 which was the reason he handed Djokovic the match because he didn't want a 5 hour slugfest.

Of course he didn't lose a match. But are you telling me with a straight face that had Nadal continued to play with an injured wrist that he would have won RG? I don't think so.

So you are mocking Djokovic for playing through the pain at AO 2018 by referring to the Chung match, but it is OK that Rafa couldn't handle the pain and took his ball and went home. So if Djokovic said "No Mas" after his third round win and gave Chung a walk over, that would be OK and I can parade around that Djokovic didn't lose and he won 100% of his matches, knowing full well he wasn't winning the event if he continued, it seems that way, doesn't it?

Everyone knows Djokovic was injured at AO 2018, he had surgery straight after it, so using that win to stick it to Djokovic is below the belt. And aren't you always talking about Rafa never being fully healthy post 2011? Funny how you don't think that quite possibly others can be in that state also sometime in their careers.

I am sorry but you don't see the hypocrisy you are exhibiting here? You very quickly start talking about Rafa's injuries, while blatantly ignoring that Djokovic himself was injured at AO 2018....and mocking him for losing there to Chung.

Why is it you can excuse away Rafa's loses with surgeries, yet, conveniently ignore such things for Djokovic, who as I said played AO 2018 with fragmented bone chips in his elbow that were causing him pain.

@Hitman I do not think you should continue debating with @clayqueen about this issue. @clayqueen is an excellent poster, but today she just happen to have an off-day. I (and everyone else) agree that only because Noval lost at the AO 2017 and AO 2018 when he was in bad form, it doesn't follow that Nadal is more favorite than Djokovic for the AO. Djokovic is clearly the biggest favorite for the AO and everyone will agree with you here. It doesn't mean that other players like Federer, Nadal, Medvedev, etc. do not have a chance, only that Djokovic is the biggest favorite.

Of course he plays the victim role, and even more so than Kyrgios if you ask me. He just is the clearly better tennis player of course.

But no way he gets better if people are against him. Or why do you think is he begging for applause and being loved every time? If that were true he would act like a Wrestling heel who enjoys being “hated”.

Djokovic is as unsecure as it gets. At the Australian Open last year he argued with the crowd when they were happy that Shapovalov won ONE set against him and ironically imitated their cheering. At RG he argued over the wind till he was hopelessly behind against Thiem, and later he discussed with the referee over a meaningless time violation over and over again until he barely realized that he lost a set in the meantime.

Look at Federer and Nadal, they are both cool as ice compared to Djokovic. They even showed it on the same day when they played their match in horrible conditions without complaining.

When not everything is perfect for him, Djokovic turns from being the Ultimate Warrior to complaining or even being lethargic in no time.

It’s almost impossible to understand him though, and I wonder if he himself is able to. :-D At Wimbledon he almost didn’t celebrate when he had all the right to do so. Then at the WTF against Federer he was almost absent. But after winning a doubles match at the ATP Cup he acted like a gorilla yesterday.

Nick is a crybaby. Never really played huge matches before either and that could be the reason. Too much talking too little playing. His best result is like a QF in a slam some years ago if I’m not mistaken.
Novak been playing finals w a 20 000 crowd and booing against him. He has played so many matches and lots of them big.

Meh. I don't have any issue with this as Novak's supporter. Kyrgios can certainly do what he wants with his time. Maybe even analyzing Novak's game as they are potential opponents in this tournament. Serbia had all the support on their side during the match anyway. If Kyrgios was leading the overwhelming heckling like we had in Djokovic - Wawrinka at USO, that would be sleazy.

First let's see Djokovic behave like a complete arse on the court every time he steps on it, and then have meltdowns trying to justify his behavior whenever he gets penalized. THEN we can talk about him playing a bigger victim role than Kyrgios.

What do you mean by "begging for applause and being loved every time"? Is it the perhaps cringey but still innocent and harmless boob throw salute to the crowd? Or the occasional smirks and finger to the ear during the match? That didn't give any indication of constant begging to me. The latter two are more likely to provoke someone who is not his fan. An all time great and intelligent athlete would never do stuff like that if he is that desperate for bigger approval than he's already got. This topic has really dragged on for few years too long.

And that's your proof? Handling the wind better for one day? How often do they deal with crowd hostility where their errors get more applause than their good shots? Easy to be cool when you are everyone's darling around the world. Let's see Fed and Nadal deal with less comfortable situations more often. THEN we can talk about their coolness.

You deciding to call a louder celebration after winning a long important point "acting like a gorilla" is just your problem with Djokovic, who has done that countless times (and isn't unique there), not the case of him being impossible to understand.

He has the right to celebrate a win however he wants, whenever he wants. Just like how Fed can cry like a little girl after winning his precious Basel while keeping his cool after winning most of his Slams or after throwing away the 40-15. And I highly doubt you or others would have kept quiet if Novak did the more logical thing, being calm yesterday and "acting like a gorilla" at Wimbledon instead.

Yes, especially such actions in combination. Either he embraces the heel role ("This is Sparta"; Ironic finger on the ear etc.) OR he does the boob throwing. Both together and towards the same crowd is incredibly stupid.

No, that day I was really surprised. I was depressed about Federer's loss when Djokovic had match points in the final TB, but I thought: "Damn, he will be shouting and ripping his shirt very soon, but that would be perfectly legit after one of the greatest comebacks ever."

But no, winning a doubles match in ATP Cup seemed to be more exciting. :-D

And you hit the nail on the head. As his fan, you don't see how cringe worthy some of Novak's attempts are to be adored like Fed and Nadal. You discount it or don't see it because you're his fan, the problem is, the majority of tennis fans support someone other than Djokovic (not to be nasty, it's simply true). He has openly admitted that when he plays Fed and the fans are chanting Roger's name, he pretends they are chanting 'Nole' and it must work since he beats Fed routinely. He's gotten so much better with this need to be loved over the years, but many of us remember the stuff below that went on for years. And yes, this is trying to be popular and loved, classic attention-seeking behavior:

If he is begging to be liked how does this in some way disprove he gets better when people root against him? In your description of him, you tried to make it sound like anytime anything goes against him he just whines, can't handle it while on his way to losing. Clearly, that is not how it has played out over time. You sat and watched him wrestle at least 3 Slams away from Federer all while he had 80+% of crowd support, and obnoxious people trying to distract him at every turn. If that doesn't display grade A mental strength then I don't know what does.

Djokovic hasn't ripped a shirt in 7 years at least and you expected it last year? Lol.

I would like its as you say, but unfortunately, I think that he is distracted both by off court things (ie Kyr, tennis politics...), and by hostile crowd...
Yes, he won many epics in hostile atmosphere, but I think he would won more if he was crowd favourite as Fed is... Just look at his wtf final match against Fed, he was so distracted because of mentioned hostile environment and it happened to be flat in this match... Sometimes he is flat (more often as time pass) and sometimes he has fighting spirit (more and more rarely)... You mentioned w2019, he was quite flat that day and won not because of fighting spirit in hostile situation, but with a bit of luck and being clutch...
And I repeat, hope I am wrong...

On the other hand, in favorable environment, he give always his best, fighting to the end... As he do in Davis cup, or in this years Atp cup... He loves it, and its not only national pride...

Only Annacone said that and he is simply wrong. McEnroe never said that "Kyrgios is more talented than Nadal and Djokovic". A man with 0 Slams is nowhere near as talented as players like Nadal and Djokovic, who have won 16+ Slams distributed on every surface. Kyrgios cannot win RG, no matter how much effort he puts on it, because outside the serve his game is pretty average. On clay, the serve advantage dissapears and everyone's baseline game is exposed. Nicholas is too tall and lacks the necessary mobility, speed and patience in the shot-making to ever defeat Nadal, Djokovic or Thiem at RG, no matter how much effort he puts on it. He is simply not talented enough to win any RG title.
