Two days in a row now...

Controversial Australian Nick Kyrgios snapped "that's just crap!" at the umpire on Wednesday as he earned his third code violation in a week when he smashed away a loose ball and nearly hit a line judge.

Kyrgios, 20, was left fuming by the decision at the climax of the second set as he slumped from a dominant start to a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 defeat by Kei Nishikori in the Shanghai Masters second round.

Tuesday's flare-up was not the first row between Kyrgios and umpire Mohamed Lahyani, after the Australian had to deny calling the official "dirty scum" during a match at this year's Wimbledon.

At the end of the second set in Shanghai, a frustrated Kyrgios slapped away a bouncing ball with a huge backhand which nearly hit the central line judge, who had to take evasive action.

"This for me is too dangerous, you hit it so hard," Lahyani said as they argued during the changeover.

Kyrgios protested: "I didn't even hit anyone but it's unsportsmanlike? The ref wasn't even close to it... well let's just look at the tape because that's just crap."

Kyrgios repeatedly sparred with Lahyani and at one point shouted: "Water bro, water!" at a startled ball boy as a quietly impressive win for Nishikori was overshadowed by histrionics.

Australian legend Rod Laver was courtside and taking pictures of the action as the match unfolded.

One day, they will call #Nick back home to rule the throne his Mother invented in her mind. Until then, he continues to litter the sport with his mothers values. Both should be banned from the sport. #Dust

Yeah, it sucks he acts like this when he has a lot of talent and potential. It is hard to be a follower or a fan of his due to his antics.

I thought the code violation may have been a bit too much.. You see tennis players hit an extra ball all the time after the point is over. Kyrgios just hit it really hard. It was still more than a meter away from the lineswoman. A warning would've been enough imo.

Now that Kyrgios has this image and this $5000 ban thing going on, every incident big or small is going to get picked up on. I though the first code violation he got here was more ridiculous. For just calling this place "A circus" and "unbelievable". I've heard much worse from players which there were no consequences at all, lol. He did nearly hit that lineswoman though. A metre isn't that big! :)

Idk why he hasn't gotten himself banned yet (intentionally). At the rate he's going, one fine at a tournament in January could see him miss the Australian Open where he was a quarterfinalist. He needs to get the ban over with now while it doesn't matter. So what if he misses some ATP250's and the Paris Masters? What if he gets the ban while playing in Paris. Would the ban be effective for 28 days from that date or in 2016?

Am I the only one who thinks that Kyrigos is actually trying to force a ban on himself and get it over with this year? If he gets a ban now, he would hardly miss anything and can start afresh next year without having to worry about it. I think that is his strategy.

Probably still feels he can qualify for WTF.

I think he's trying to get himself banned on purpose, just to get the suspension thing out of the way.

Otherwise he might have a slip-up later and not be able to play at the AO, which would suck.

that article is incorrect. it wasn't a BH but a FH and it did not nearly hit the linesman...

Anyone know what phone he's got?

Because the wood and the old things are better:

He won't be seeded at the AO then and therefore seriously risks a nightmare draw (eg: Murray first round at this year'a US Open).

I think the best thing for him right now would be a 6month ban. Let him get his head straight. Watched him play nishikori this week he played some great tennis, then imploded. It really is frustrating. He just has a bad attitude.

There´s hope. At some point, you figure it out. Then your forgive your parents. And then you´re free.
It could be, but sometimes it's too much.

Sioux mothers, when one of their babies/small children cried too much, used to get the bundle/cot where the child was, and tie it to a tree branch outside until the child calmed down. It makes a lot of sense. If you dote on a kid too much he can grow up to become an a-hole.

Have you read "A-holes - A theory"? Amusing read. I´m afraid Kyrgios will find out too late to ever become #1 in the world, despite his incredible talent. On the other hand, Borg was expelled from his club for 6 months ages 17, because of bad behaviour. He came back, and never once did he lose control over his mind on court. Incredible stuff. He just decided to be cool. Some dude, huh?

All the tennis talent in the world is just part of being a champion.
Nick is way, way behind on all other requirements and I don't see him giving a damn about developing the constitution of a champion.
Secondly, I'm really not convinced that Nick Kyrios has 'incredible' talent to begin with. We only know of Nick the due to his antics not for actually winning anything.
