Kyrgios being targeted

Not really. But I'm sure that's how he feels when they give him these time violations... maybe if you hadn't killed your racket you would've had one gripped and ready to go, mate.

I like him when he's being entertaining and level-headed, but these stupid class-less antics remind me that he is simply an entitled brat (couldn't find a better description for now).

The match was highly entertaining, that is all I care about. He is not a guy I like or admire (absolute classless act), but he gives me something of value... entertainment.

He is a psycho. He has some big problem and I wouldn't be surprised if he finish living under the bridge in some point of his life...

I would say that is ridiculous to say (he is a multi millionaire that from what I have seen does not dump his money). However, I did hear of a story where a guy was living as a homeless man for years while his net worth was worth millions.

But the guy was just psycho and lost his mind.

I was there at the match. From what I saw the first set and a half he was well behaved for Nick.... Something really set him off before the whole time violation thing. I am not sure what it was but it appeared to me that someone said something to him and all of a sudden he lost it.

Pro sports is viewed as entertainment now like the WWE is. NK is pushing the rules and has bad conduct! So did Jimmy Connors, Illinois Nastase and John McEnroe!

Hnen someone is crazy, and I am afraid this guy is, amount of money you have doesn't matter... I really don't like Kyr, but hope I am wrong... He seem as man in problem and he seems to be alone...
Where is his family, parents, brother, didn't watch match... Were they there?

They kept showing someone, not sure who it was (always seems to be someone different). Yep, he is definitely a troubled guy. But I don't see him fixing it.

I will say, I hear he is a good guy off court (for what that is worth), so it is odd that we don't see that on court.

Still a nobody, still has won nothing of significance and in 20-30 years won't be remembered like the other bad boys of tennis because they actually achieved something in comparison. What has Kyrgios achieved? a few 500s? Lol

Nick Kyrgios is really projecting when he keeps complaining how other players are 'so cringy' or 'the saltiest dude'

Only just watching the replay of match now. Man, this guy is a w@nker. A full on mental nutjob.

Full credit to Karen for keeping focus and kicking his backside.

You may be entertained but mature real tennis fans and his opponents are not. Nick is either ******** or just looking for ways to get attention, which is a shame because he is so talented and could be a top 5 player if he acted his age.

You can't blame him for taking an issue with the biggest offender of the rule and making it an example for every occasion. It is the most obvious thing to do, if he is to make a point.

Has anyone that has been at the match timed the time calling on him? It would be interesting if what he was saying was right or wrong.

Na he was wrong. He just lost a screw somewhere along the way and decided to spend a couple of sets whinging about Rafa for some reason.

Do you know if his complaints were reasonable?

Why didn't the umpire do his job?

Yep. What set him off was the high likelihood of an upcoming match with the almighty Djokovic! Marginal just doesn't have the balls to back up his words on the court.

It’s ironic that he called the umpire a tool, he is the biggest tool in the tennis world.
My days of changing diapers and dealing with whiny children are long past, thank the gods . . . so I sure as hell don't waste my time on a brat like Kyrgios. But I knew the board would be lit up today, and I just couldn't help myself from commenting on the obvious irony of him calling some else a "tool."

I mean, that's some epic-level disconnect on his part.

Lol. Epic first line. I would give you a like if there was one.

One minute of Nick when he’s engaged in a match is better 15 years of Karen, Basilashvili or Medvedev.

So, the umpire wasn't starting the clock as Kyrgios claims?

I was there and Nick was being his regular self trying to blame someone or something. The clock starts after umpire calls out the score. Nick's complaint was umpire was calling out the score too fast. Which is ridiculous because a) he was doing it for Karen the same way and b) all matches I have seen in person everywhere this tournament have had the same gap of time (between point being over and umpire calling out score).

Also, Nick's behaviour was completely out of line and his point that he was trying to make was absolutely irrelevant. Rafa was not playing this match, Rafa had nothing to do with this match whatsoever. He kept on asking the umpire why Rafa gets away with these things. Well, I'm sure he does at times but how can he himself break rules and then say xyz breaks them regularly so I can break them too? Nonsensical really.

Worst part is he did a full on tank job in final game and in the end spit towards the umpire calling him a tool or something like that. How anyone can condone any of these things I have mentioned above is beyond me.

Many of his antics are about the fact that he is sucking air after easy to moderate points. Trying to buy time complaining about anything he can think of, umpire, crowd, players not even on the court, etc.
The rule is the umpire calls the score and then the time clock runs. If there is a good bit of applause after a long point, he calls the score and the time clock runs. Same rules for everyone. If Nadal and Sharapova have found a way to manage it then Kyrgios can figure it out. Mentally unstable.

It depends if you like tennis or drama.
If I want entertainment and drama I watch a movie or something.
Drama in tennis is more like 40-15 scenario. That’s sports drama. Not creating drama like Nick does.

Well said. I wonder which 40-15 you are referring to:unsure:

I am trying to find out two separate answers here.

The first is whether there is some truth to what Nick says. I will take your word that there wasn't: if that is the case then Nick was just looking for a way to get out of there. I admit that I find it strange that he would make an effort and then do a full tank job, but let's chalk it up to his volatile character.

The second is why didn't the umpire upheld the rules in that case: he could have and should have reprimanded Nick for what he was doing. It is ironical that the umpire was doing (albeit in another way) what Kyrgios was accusing him of: bad umpiring. Isn't that what Kyrgios has exposed over and over whether with attitude towards himself or others: the stars of the games are allowed too much freedom just because they are stars?

Different standards. That is the name of the game, and the ATP is neck deep in that BS.

As for Nadal being mentioned, I already said elsewhere: whether he plays in the match or not, he is the poster boy (along with Djokovic) of that offence, so making him an example is pretty normal and actually smart move, as he is a high profile case.

My favorite is when he is standing at the baseline putting a new overgrip on and the umpire is talking about a time violation or something. Like a gangster he says "go ahead and serve, I'm ready". Umpire was blindsided by this. Seriously though, returner decides when he's ready, not the umpire. Classic!!!

Example to what end though? Because Nick wants to catch a break and not get warned since there are high profile people breaking a rule? Two wrongs do not make a right. He was making a case that since Rafa does it, Nick should not be warned either for time violations. Seriously? Very hard to defend your position here.
