Nick Kyrgios calls Djokovic most complete player that he has ever played.

"Yeah, I got a lot of confidence from that [win against Novak Djokovic in Acapulco]," he said. "I knew I had to have a great serving day. I think he's the most complete player of everyone I have ever played.

"I wanted to win that match. But yeah, I mean I knew I could win."

This follows close on the heels of Nick Bolletteri giving Novak the same distinction .

It is to be noted though that Tim Henman said while Novak is solid at the back of the court he does not come to the net often enough to be regarded as the most complete player.

Yeah. Djokovic is the most complete, at least for the modern baseline game. That doesn't necessarily mean best though, so no need for fans of others to blow this out of proportion :)

Nick must be pretty dense to think a guy with no overhead and poor net skills is a "complete player." Had he amended it to "most complete baseline player," then it wouldn't have provoked much comment or skepticism.

Good god the petulance of Fedal fans is embarrassing. Pull yourselves together. Tuck in those shirts. Get up and wipe that drool off your chin. Unreal. Can you imagine dealing with this on a daily basis.

LOL

In this thread there is one preference (at least going by which player the posters that gave a preference support) for Djokovic, Nadal and Federer and you decided to talk about Federer fans.

He never played against 04-07 Federer so understandable. Djokovic is the most complete baseliner since then, although his net skills are too poor to be a top all court player.
Nadal has to be more complete as federer says he is best he has ever faced !

Most nadal fans consider djokovic his true rival. He is more complete than rafa..rafa was tougher mentally and physically.

If u really analyse it nadal and djokovic the greatest of all time. But thats not allowed to be said on here...

It's a shame that too many Nadal fans (you included when Djokovic is in great form) can't respect ( I wonder why:confused:) such a great rivalry if not Djokovic himself.

Do I need to remind you that Djoko has won 7 consecutive matches twice against Rafa ?

For the last 3 years, Rafa has not won a set against Novak.

Best ever faced... Fed can't play himself.

And of course Djokovic is Nadal's main rival. Federer owned his generational rivals (Roddick, Hewitt and Safin) and also put a significant dent into the next generation (denied Rafa 3 slams and 4 WTF, denied Djokovic 1 slam directly in final and 4 indirectly by beating him in SF). He's the GOAT after all.

Nadal and Djokovic are both 5 and 6 years younger than Federer. It's actually astonishing that Djokovic is only 1 win ahead of Federer and lost to the old man 9 times was it since 2011. Nole should be about 15 wins ahead by now LOL.

Whats the h2h in the majors? And in last 5 years isnt nadal ahead 4-2?

Nobody disputes djokovic the goat of three set format hence why he leads masters 1000 table!! But personally the best of five set format the ultimate test i think...

Nadal's wins over Djokovic are primarily clay, just like how it is against Fed.

Nadal-Djoko BO3 matches are like any other 5 setters in that they take so long. Not much difference really.

At uso nadal leads djoko 2-1 and at ao leads federer 3-1. Neither on clay mate

No its the fact federer stopped winning regularly when nadal and djokovic peaked.

In the last 3 years, Federer has won a major, reached 3 other finals and countless SF while Nadal's best is the lone final at AO 17 and all QF or earlier exits. Not sure what you are talking.

Fed is 6 years senior to Djoko and he is the one who is still winning.

Djokovic played really well in that match and was not happy losing the first set. Blinked at the end of the 2nd on serve and he was quickly done. It was impressive what he did against an on fire Kyrgios.

I am not sure how anyone can say that any certain player is the most complete player. We have either seen S&V players or baseliners. Never a combination of the two. Noone can brag about a player if their total achievements aren't evenly divided playing both from the baseline and at the net.

Good point. The contemporary game is less of an all-court game than it was just two decades ago, let alone before that.

From the baseline, Novak is as about as solid as it gets. And when you consider his game, there is no obvious weakness (cough, overhead).

I think Djokovic is - even though still with Amor Paz - on the right track. He is getting better again and the match against Kyrgios was very good compared to what he showed in the course over the last 8 months. I'm pretty sure would have beaten anyone at that day considering how well he served.

But if you take all-court-game into consideration I think Federer is still ahead. He might be weaker in defense (especially nowadays), but he is able to avoid being in a defensive position most of the time.

And when you consider his game, there is no obvious weakness (cough, overhead).

Maybe that's why he is playing so passive these days. Avoid approaching the net at any costs :D

This is what I've said aswell. Not only kyrgios saying, but several past greats and experts of the game.

It also strengthens this when Djokovic Won n-cygs on three different surfaces wich has never been done before. Hard to argue against. He has mastered the sport Along with Laver.

But how does the age difference factors in, when you make that conclusion?

Federer cant have a free ride for a decade saying losses are less significant due to age.

Presumably he thinks he is close to his peak level otherwise he would quit.

If age is going to be determinant then we are left speculating as to whose peak was best

Kyrgios finally revealed who is his favourite tennis player. He likes Andy Murray, but 'Roger [Federer] is just so good to watch. I like the tennis he plays, and I think he plays a low-percentage-type tennis. He changes directions, takes balls early, comes in a lot. He serves to a lot of spots. It's just fun, entertaining type of tennis to watch. He's a great role model on and off the court, I think. But, I mean, he's the greatest tennis player of all time. Growing up as a little kid with my friends, we always thought he was the man. He's my favorite.'

Well, Djokovic peaked in 2011. Fed turned 30 that year so obviously he stopped winning regularly because of that.

Nadal too stopped winning regularly once Djokovic peaked. So that excludes Nadal from the GOAT debate.
