Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from two ATP tournaments due to back injuries, his coach Todd Larkham told the Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday.
According to Larkham, Kyrgios will rest for the next two weeks to prevent problems with his L3 vertebra from developing into a stress fracture. The recovery period will see the 19-year-old miss the Open 13 tournament in France on Feb. 16 and the Dubai Championships the week after.
Kyrgios and his coach chose to forego the two tournaments in order to be prepared to represent Australia in a Davis Cup match in Prague from March 6 to 8.
From the Sydney Morning Herald:
"Davis Cup's a priority for him and he really wants to get there. He's desperate to represent Australia and I think everyone feels it's a tie we could win," Larkham said.
"[So] we certainly want to get there, doing everything possible to get there and it's still a priority on his schedule."
never good to have back troubles early
