Nick Kyrgios fined $113 000 for 5 separate examples of unsportsmanlike conduct, 1 of verbal abuse, an audible obscenity and for leaving the court unauthorised during last night’s match with Karen Khachanov.1:05 PM · Aug 15, 2019 from Mason, OH

@russellcfuller
The ATP also says it is now considering whether additional action is warranted under the Player Major Offence section of the code. That could result in an additional fine and/or suspension.

No worries. He will be reimbursed by the Laver Cup, where he is featured as the main attraction.

Shapovalov needs to hit about 19 umpires for that

Good fine, but Kyrgios will just keep doing this I think. Would prefer a ban that puts him out of the USO if the ATP has the right to do so

"He has a really great talent but sometimes the head not in the right place," Khachanov said. "It was a really difficult match for me. I had to really work it out, how to get the win.

"It's really tough [playing Kyrgios], not only for me but for everybody. You have to try and handle it, then you can have chances to win the match. Always try to stay in there."

Without a lengthy suspension it means absolutely nothing. You think he cares about a fine when Federer is promoting his behavior and paying him much more than that with Laver Cup money? He doesn't!

Kyrgios probably doesn't even care about the money tbh. He knows that Laver Cup is just around the corner. His big buddy Fedr is generous and will provide hefty financial reward as always.

Lengthy suspension + removal from Laver Cup by Federer and Laver needed to rein in this monster. This guy should not be allowed to make millions in exos held by them.

The lengthy suspension will mean he will struggle to come back, and perhaps it is good that he never does.

Agreed. I also think they should assign him a coach as his probation officer-- specifically, one who is good with head cases.

He needs a suspension. How long of one, I'm still thinking on that but he needs one and he needs to be removed from Laver Cup. Stop rewarding this behavior. Tweeners and such, whatever, I don't like them but it's whatever...what he did last night was disgraceful.

Would be shocked if he's not yanked from LC, guy is not that big of a draw to outweigh his crap behavior.

If you don’t want to see Nick any more just turn the channel while he is playing. Trust me, it’s not going to get any better. The ratings are quantified frequently. It won’t be long and you won’t see him anymore.

He broke every rule in the book. After they realized they looked like chumps for not disqualifying him, they give him high fines.

Khachanov played HORRIBLY. Nick wanted to win - badly - but he failed to beat this mediocre version of a top 10 player. Nick is a loser because he is afraid to fail, like yesterday. We won't witness him trying hard any time soon, again.

And I say trying hard liberally, trying hard in the Kyrgios sense of the word, not the Nadal sense.

So everyone playing LC is being 'bailed out'? The point makes no sense.

You know what I am saying. There is a reason that crime sentencing often invokes a rule that criminals cannot profit from their crime by writing a book.

Someone who pays money for an appearance of a person who is a disgrace is complicit with it.

Anyways, you know what I mean so don't waste my valuable time.

As he was leaving the court , audience cheered and applauded for him as he was their hero. He even did some autograph signing. He won't be banned from USO or scrapped from lover's cup. This is exactly what people want to see, tweeners, swearing, throwing objects and spitting. Peanuts fine is there pro-form.

It is quite a serious matter. The chair umpire can file a complaint against the organizers for workspace hostility. A tennis court is a workplace and people have a right to be able to go about their jobs without harassment. Sports should never be an exception to the rule.

Amazing that Nick's on court antics are getting significantly worse and everlasting (dragged out), even compared to 2-3 years ago. More consistentcy too...

I've always defended Kyrgios, but what he did last night was inexcusable. He needs be suspended

Fine to severe IMO! The referee start the clock on NK on both the receiving and serve immediately after the last point was finish. NK usually towels off after each point. Totally ridiculous treatment! He should file an grievance with the ATP Council to get the fines reduce and have the serve clock start after the server is ready on the baseline.

Similis simili gaudet - the very profit generating idea behind all the modern mildly scripted documentaries on animals a.k.a. reality shows. If this sport was tennis, he would be banned. It is not, so he won't.

I would send him on an Umpiring course and force him to umpire a minimum 50 matches at ITF Futures level before he can return to the circuit.

he didn't get suspended , that's all Kyrios is worried about. that money is Nothing to him since he doesnt' have any coach. he would have payed more for coaching costs. All he has is his Homies who costs nothing. I heard these homies pay for their own airline tickets.....LOL

Kyrgios does seem like he escaped from some reality show and unfortunately a lot audience operates on that level. Doesn't make real effort of other players and sport non-existent.
