  1. Don't you have any experts that were not accused of abusing their partners?
  2. Him being a regular would genuinely stop me renewing my subscription
  3. guess im gonna watch the german commentators once again
  4. pathetic move. glad i have other options and don’t have to watch eurosport.
  5. Really?? There's absolutely nobody else you could employ? ‍♀️
  6. he will only talk about himself
  7. Looking forward to using the "ambient sound" option a lot more this time.
  8. You can't really call it a world class commentary team when Nick Kyrgios is part of it.
  9. is there a commentary free option
  10. Please be clear on the instructions for commentary-free options. Many thanks!

Not a fan of Kyrgios at all but I can still differentiate him as a tennis player and as a TV commentator. I listened to him during the WTF on Tennis Channel, most of his analysis were insightful. Most of the feedbacks about him were positive. I have listened to Eurosport comments a few times, it's always boring. The level can only go up.

i saw him on tennis channel and he actually seemed like a nice person.
i hope they team him up with becker

So Eurosport perfectly okay with an abuser being on their team? We're seeing more examples of this in the world, they don't care that he's a criminal as long as he's cheap to hire and draws attention. Even if that attention is almost entirely negative.

I know it's a the number 1 (or 2 maybe) past time of this board to barf on anything Kyrgios, but come on... A criminal? The charges were dismissed by a judge who reviewed all the evidence. Like him or not, he has a clean slate.

The judge said that the offence was minor and unlikely to be repeated. Kyrgios also acknowledged his mental health difficulties even if judged not severe.

But he did plead guilty! He was let off because a conviction would cause him greater harm than an ordinary defendant.

So the charge was dismissed not really on the evidence but on law.

Well the bar is low.

No, it's not, it's very, very high. Kyrgios has not lived up to expectations, but he has had a very successful career. Only a small number of players make slam finals, make MS 1000 finals, win seven titles, and win a doubles slam title. Kyrgios is one of the 20 or 30 most successful active players, out of a pool of well over 1,000.

He will have a much more successful career as a commentator than as a player.
This seems unlikely to me.

Aussie TV didn't want him? I saw him on Tennis Channel recently, he did a very good job. What is his injury? Man, he was so good in that last Wimbledon he played, totally annihilated Novak in the first set of the final and then got angry at his box for no reason and crumbled.

Ok ok ok let's replace him with Nadal. "Gonna be very tough, that's the sport, you win you lose, that's the true, unbelievable forehand no? Gonna try my best. Novak is the goat I'm just happy be here."

At least his forehand didn't land him in court.

I can’t stand him. When he was on the Tennis Channel I could only watch for a few minutes before I wanted to change the channel. He is a jerk and when I hear his voice all I hear is a jerk. He is a tattooed McEnroe !

I'm sure the judge weighed everything in front of her, including his guilty plea. It was a nothing burger to begin with, but he was man enough to man up to it.

Bottom line: case dismissed, the judge deemed it not worhty of conviction. So he is no criminal and has a clean slate. (Much to the chagrin of most of the schadefreude seekers here no doubt...)

I don't disagree with your sentiment. I disagreed with your analysis.

Good grief...

My 'analysis'...:

"The charges were dismissed by a judge who reviewed all the evidence"
The charges were dismissed. Fact. The judge reviewed all the evidence. Ofcourse she did. It was her job. Also fact.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Like they said in A Few Good Men:" the rest is just smoke-filled, coffee-house crap. "

- out.

Never have I ever been so grateful to not have to listen o Eurosport. Thank you Channel 9 for not hiring this idiot clown.

Good grief...

My 'analysis'...:

If you want to defend a player who has openly admitted to abuse, has been banned from the tour for his bad behavior, openly mocks former greats for attention and is a general all-round nasty piece of work then that's on you. Personally I don't think a player like that should be given stints on TV, he's a bad influence and reinforces the notion that no matter what you do, if you're drawing in money, everything else is overlooked.

You did not volunteer the legal fact that Kyrgios did plead guilty to the charge.

Kyrgios pled guilty to abuse. You can hate on Nadal all you like but you can’t justify this. Also, I don’t even know why you bring him into this conversation.

I think Kyrgios is very entertaining not only on court but off the court too which is why I believe that as a commentator he may be an asset to the channel. By the same token, for his casual tone of expression I guess Nick may as well be a liability to anyone who take the responsibility. I want to be entertained and informed. What people want from their lives remains to be seen :)

Kyrgios has talent in podcast and broadcasting. One of the most eloquent speakers out there. It's better that he can find his place in broadcasting rather than wasting his time on tennis court.

Kyrgios creates a buzz in tennis world and makes tennis fans talk and fight. It's good for the game. Would you rather be listening to Tomas Berdych during a tennis match? Commentators should not make us sleep, they should make us getting excited. I'd say Henri Leconte and Robbie Koenig are awesome and entertaining commentators.

Read back to what I wrote. Never did I defend him for his bad behaviour or his mocking or etc. That's your assumption. But the coin has two sides. Whatever his behaviour was, it does not give us the right to make this issue bigger than it was. He shoved his ex aside who was drunk and being a karen not allowing him to go away in his car. You all make it sound asif he's a wife beater. He was charged with 'Common assult', which in australia is about the level of a push or spitting at someone. If he had pushed his brother, no one would bat an eye. I've had bigger brawls in kindergarten. But whatever it was, he owned it and the judge dismissd it. To call him an abuser or a criminal is just over the top and not true.

If you want to hold Kyrgios to some kind of moral standard, then perhaps lead by example and stay true to the facts.

Does anyone know how many media organisations ( and name of them) are doing a coverage of the Australian open and who is on each team in your country.
Do you ever switch to a different platform to hear what they have to say, what matches they cover and compare ?

While announcing games at A.O, Nick should talk to the t.v audience as if he were a player talking to chair umpires or opponents. i.e "bro...that was a horrible call. What a f'ing idiot."
While disagreeing with fellow commentators, "bro...I disagree. Are you stupid? Who'd you sleep with to get this job?"
Give the masses what they want.

Totally relegating Tennis discussion to the streets.

He pushed his girlfriend in a way that the judge declared to be too minor for the charge to be sustained and, therefore, dismissed the charge.

Would police have even brought a charge if he were not famous? Of course not.

You can leave the domestic dispute aside completely, and assume Kyrgios was exonerated completely, and still see that he's a massive lowlife who treats the people around him like trash. So stop defending him.

his meltdown and the way he was yelling at his box during the wimbledon final was embarassing.. i was like "theyre gonna leave him after this match right?"
