Kyrgios to Murray : Dude, you’re so much better than Djokovic, you should have a way better career

I always tell Andy Murray, I look at [Novak] Djokovic, I look at how many grand slams he has won and the results he has had and I’m just thinking … I always tell him: ‘Dude, you’re so much better than Djokovic, you should have a way better career.’ I give him **** about it all the time. I’m always telling him that, you’re a tough player to play against. But he definitely had my number on the court.

LOL. I hope Djokovic destroys him the next time they play, and every time after that. It's comments like that which is why I don't like Kyrgios. I have huge respect for Andy as a player and a person, but how can you be a pro player on the tour and see what Djokovic has done in the sport of tennis, as well as to his toughest rivals, and make a remark like that. That's just blatant disrespect and I hope Djokovic hears this and squashes him like a bug.

I know that Nick and Andy have always had a close relationship, which is great - but this is coming off as a bit fanboyish, not to mention being utterly dismissive of the immense talent that Djokovic possesses in his own right as a 14-Time Slam Champion.
Probably an inside joke or something but sounds terrible when aired publicly like that

Nick does mention highly of Djokovic as well...

He played while three of the greatest of all-time played [Federer, Nadal and Djokovic], which is never easy, and guys like Stan [Wawrinka] in grand slams always step up to the plate. But Andy got the most out of his career, he ticked all the boxes, he did everything to the absolute T, so it’s misfortune for him that his body kind of let him down.

I think it is just that he thinks Murray underachieved vis-a-vis Djokovic.

Nick stopped making headlines for good reasons a long time ago. Murray so much better than Djokovic, just LOL.

By disrespecting a tennis legend...what a pathetic way to pay tribute.

This won't go over well with him. I hope he shreds this dude. In fact, he better make it his duty to do it after this comment.

Well you know what happens when the heavyweight champion gets mad...He will be waiting for that moment to crush him.

There were so many ways to pay tribute to Murray, but this had to the absolute worst. Djokovic is a 14 time grand slam winner, that is equal to Sampras...

Yea a mad Djokovic is not the one you want to face.

The dude is just a tool. Probably my least favorite player on tour right now. He's really made disrespectful comments about Djokovic and Nadal for a while now. To add insult to injury, he hasn't even achieved anything.

It's just trashy comments that I hear from him, about how much he hates tennis. The only thing that I like really is that he helps out a lot with kids charities, but everything else is just waste of time with him.

What has he said about Nadal?

He got a violation or something then said something like Nadal can take all day and he wouldn't get a violation. He made other comments again criticizing both Djokodal as well trying to hint that they get special treatment. He only singled those two out though.

He tries too hard to be edgy and cool, and just looks like a moron in my eyes. I didn't know he helps out kid charities so I guess at least there's something positive there.

He does a lot of stuff for kids charities, so credit where credit is due. But sadly for one nice thing he does, he has double the amount of bad things. You can pay tribute to someone without disrespecting someone else, I am sure even Murray would have cringed at this considering he and Novak have grown up together since they were 11 and went to war over the biggest titles.

For all the things he learned from Murray, the one thing he didn't learn was how to be respectful to others.

Kyrgios set up a foundation for disadvantaged children. I'm not sure who will find it on an ongoing basis if he's ranked 80 in the world and his income dries up.

Yea I know Murray will probably be embarrassed that these comments are in the press and not just behind the scenes banter. Speaking of growing up, it's very likely Nick won't ever accomplish that.

I think it is an inside joke and tbh kyrgios's humor doesnt come across that well on paper. Not that I am defending him because who knows with nick because right after that statement I assume he said "I like to give him ****" like I think he says that to rile up andy because right after that he mentions Novak as one of the best players along side fed and nadal so yeah.

Kyrgios has a keen observation of TRUE tennis talent .. When Rafa and Fed retire he will be my 2nd go to player, just behind Zverev (y)

I'd be curious to see how this would come across on video rather than on paper. Still not the smartest thing to say ofc plus his intentions might have been one thing but should have made a tribute without comparisons or bringing anyone else

I'm a big Novak fan, but I really don't take offense to that line, as:

a. It was one line in a nice tribute to Andy, and was in the context of talking a little trash to Andy.
b. Kyrgios, while a great athlete and very talented, is hardly known for being a cerebral player - so, consider the source.

Yea but he wasn't even playing Nadal at that time and just randomly brought his name up because he couldn't handle getting a violation.
I suppose but I remember someone else doing it too, not nick I wish I remembered the name but it wasnt long ago and they questioned the time violation. I Ngl im petty regarding nadal's transgressions so it made me laugh more than anything

Yeah I dont think he seriously meant it though with nick it is hard to tell but this is the same guy who lives to troll rhe media by randomly posting he got a coach when it wasn't true. Honestly and who knows with nick and I can get why novak fans are upset but I would imagine this would come across differently if it were on video.

If I am not mistaken, it was Stan who complained about Nadal.

Nick did comment when Djokovic got away with a warning when he hurled a ball that hurt a spectator at Djoha

Nick Kyrgios has again questioned the ATP Tour's consistency after Novak Djokovic apparently escaped with a fine after hitting a spectator with a tennis ball.

"I would've been defaulted and suspended until 2025," suggested a tongue-in-cheek Kyrgios on Twitter.

In fairness it's partly a match up thing; Murrays game is/was built for taking apart servebots. So it's reasonable that NIck finds Andy a tougher opponent.

Kinda pointless getting upset by what Nick says, does anyone actually take Nick seriously?

Prior to that incident, at the French Open Kyrgios got a warning from umpire Carlos Ramos for yelling "towel" at a ball boy and later referenced Djokovic going unpunished despite pushing away a match umpire when challenging a call in Rome earlier that month.

The Australian accused Ramos of "unbelievable bias" and said the code violation call was "f---ing bulls---" during his exchanges on the court.

Post-match he said there would be "a circus" if he pushed an umpire in the manner that Djokovic had.

Look I wont argue one way or another but reading the entire article it looks like he said in the context of ruling up andy and giving him **** and describing their relationship more than anything else because in that same article he clubs Novak as one of the best along fed and rafa so I really dont believe he is genuinely looking down on novak's achievements reading the entire article but hey that is just me.

So basically he has just trashed all four of them. Well done Nick.
