Guess what? Tomic did almost the same thing, and where is he now?.[/QUOTE]

Ranked inside the top 30, another 4R appearance at the Aus open, 6 QF finishes in 2015 alone including Indian Wells.

Federer is possibly one of the most arrogant players of all time, and that certainly didn't stop him from winning majors.

Kyrgios's antics on court may seem to be too much for some, but I he seems to be a pretty down to earth kid off the court. He will be fine.

Very confused by this. I know Fed was arrogant in his earlier years but he is genuinely one of the nicest guys off the court nowadays. Met him in Brisbane while I was working and he's amazing and humble and not one person working had anything negative to say about Fed. I've heard many things about Kyrgios being a **** outside of the courts. And his personality on court isn't the best as well.

Now, i'm not saying he won't win majors, he probably could win one someday, but his attitude needs to improve.

Federer speaks:

"I think both of us probably also needed some time when we were younger to figure out our games," Federer said about himself and Kyrgios. "We have a lot of possibilities in terms of shot selection. To hit the right shot at the right time is something that for us comes a bit more difficult than a steady baseliner who is just happy to rally. We prefer to do other things out there. That's why [Kyrgios] might take a few more years to really crack the code."

Don't mind Jm1980, he just believes that Federer is the worst possible player/human on this earth.

OT: Kyrgios is just confident and I'm sure he will change as most people do on the tour. He is young and has all the potential right now.

I'll elaborate:

I don't think Kyrgios's game is the best right now, and he has some technical difficulties. For example, I think his forehand is too wristy, and he could seriously damage it. If he were to do less of a windshield wiper motion, he could get a little more penetration on it.

His volleys are pretty bad, nobody can deny that. He doesn't bend his legs at all. I remember one point from watching him against Nadal at Wimbledon, and all he had to do was volley an easy ball over the net, and he would've won the point, no doubts. However, he didn't bend his knees, and the ball went straight into the net. It just seems a bit lazy, and I suppose I'm projecting because I've had to work on remembering to bend my knees for volleys.

His attitude is the thing that gets me. I've run into too many people here on campus who have attitudes like him, and it annoys me. There's a difference between arrogance and confidence, and he's more on the side of the former right now.

All that being said, I truly want to support him, but not until he fixes his attitude. He's got the most potential out of all the young ones, but that really isn't saying much.

An attempt at sandbagging?

Don't worry once Kyrgios starts to win slams this topic will haunt you forever!

What's the purpose of this thread really? I suspect OP wants the thread to be bumped years later when Kyrgios wins a Slam.

Tons of hype surrounding this arrogant spoiled little brat. What do y'all even see in his game? His backhand is meh, his forehand is awkward, his volleys are atrocious, his movement is horrible. Literally, his only weapon is his serve. The only reason he's hyped up so much is because he beat Nadal in the 4th round of Wimbledon and reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and the Australian Open. Guess what? Tomic did almost the same thing, and where is he now?

Kyrgios will never win a major. Book it here.

Tell me when did Tomic beat Nadal in a major and Federer in a masters 1000?

Go ahead I'm waiting....

The way he moans is very annoying.

Tennis should've never allowed all the moaning going around today, I find it incredible how they allowed it.

I don't find him the most likeable player, though I LOVE how he, and Tomic (Kokky too prob, doesn't take much) pizz off the old Aussie players. Those guys HATE individuality. I think they think tennis is a team sport. They used to sheet on Phillipousis (sorry 4 spelling), too.

Anyway, this guy seems to get psyched up for big matches/tourneys. He's only 19, which means he'll get better. I think for those reasons, he's got a great chance winning a slam. He may be a one-slam wonder, but who cares. He'll be in quarters/semis/finals, and be a spoiler in the early rounds too.

That match he just played against roger convinced me.

Funny how nobody feels confident enough to dispute the points that OP made. This is a tennis forum guys, let's discuss tennis. If Kyrgios is never going to win a major, it's not because he's arrogant or because nobody likes him, it will be because he's just not good enough.

Now, OP, I heavily disagree with the technical criticism you gave. As others, including Federer, have mentioned, Kyrgios is very talented and there's not much awkward about his shots at all. What you call wristy, I see as loose. You think he has bad technique, because his shots don't look textbook. But I say that the guy is so talented that he knows how to hit effectively, without adhering to textbook perfect form. His backhand looks a little awkward indeed, but it always holds up, so the guy knows what he's doing. He does stand up very straight when playing, but maybe you don't kneed to bend your knees when your arm is that long and as loose as a rubber band.

Obviously he's got an amazing serve, but that's not his only strength at all. I think this thread is going to be bumped later and you're going to look like more of a fool than the guy who said djokovic would never be #1, no offense intended

Nick in my opinion only has 2 weaknesses. His lack of taste in music..
And his choice of headphones.. Beats by Dr Dre...
Overpriced for the sound quality they give.
He really should switch to Audio Technica/Beyerdynamic or Senheisser.

I think you are mistaken, not every claim is worth refuting.

I believe Kyrgios has Rafa's number.

The way Rafa's shots stand in the air plays right into his shotmaking abilities.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets him out of RG this year.

His arrogance is what gives him his no-fear attitude against big players like Nadal and Federer. His loud mouth feed his fire a la Johnny Mac. His age is an asset at a time when the big 4 are approaching their waning years.

Whether he can win a major in the next 4 years is debatable. But I think it's a safe bet he'll do it at some point in his career. After all, there's nobody else his age contending at his level.

Pathetic bringing an old post up like this. I take it you mustve scoured the forum to find something where someone said NK wouldnt win a major.

That is a sad life you have.
Why do you think it’s pathetic? Is it because you’re a Nick HATER? :)

Nothing new. Even chubsy Sock won multiple majors in doubles.

Yeah, that is what I was just thinking too. If we are trying to say a dubs GS is as good as a single GS, the Bryan's have something like 15 GS titles, so that puts them above Sampras on the list.

But ya kinda figg'r someone would bring up a bunch of old Nick basing threads to feel vindicated.
And TT never disappoints.

There is quite a few who cares about that major..
Every single player who entered the tournament did..and many many more who can't even qualify to qualify.
Or maybe you are correct..they didn't care afterwards cause they didn't win..
