Kyrigos Needs To Be Banned From Tennis For Public Safety

Nick Kyrigos's racket slam posed a danger to all those around him. He could have easily hit the ball kid nearby. The racket bounced high with a lot of force and fortunately didn't hit anyone in the eye. His previous fine and suspension has done nothing to reform him. He's just another spoiled brat tennis punk. The Aussie fans would love to love him and encouraged him throughout the match until he quit, blaming his coach, and everyone else but himself for being a loser. He said he was beat up from over training--right--it's the first major after the long winter break--maybe too many parties on the exo circuit, rather then serious training and attending rehab.

WHAT A BABY! Hope that job offer at the car wash is still open for him--although, I wouldn't trust him to vacuum my car. Seriously, his racket throwing could easily have injured anyone nearby SERIOUSLY! He's lucky he's not being prosecuted for battery and being sued for blinding a ball-kid or linesperson. He needs at least a six month suspension to think about life and how lucky he is to be being paid to play tennis and all the perks and luxuries that go with being a world class player--and to thank G-d for the talent he is squandering. Maybe he could hook up with the Kanye/Kardashian entourage and be their personal tennis coach on the world bling tour.

Kyrgios has the talent, no question but he does not have the desire not the mental capacity to handle confusion and strife on the court.

He is trying too hard to be the bad boy of tennis when there really is no need for it. He should grow up

tell me honestly you have never bounced, hit, smashed, thrown, etc a tennis racquet on the court. And no, I'm not condoning the behavior, its irresponsible.

people get too worked up about what they can't control

Everyone who plays tennis does that but Kyrgios takes it to a whole new level, he can control it but chooses not to

The guy is super talented but eccentric and erratic...or maybe he had physical issues...who knows......maybe McEnroe?

On a more serious note...He has probably achieved more than almost anyone on this board at the age of 21

I think its the opposite. He just likes to have his version of fun, not trying put on an act of a bad boy. With an experienced coach he respects, he's be on his way to reaching the pot of gold in front of him.

So your version of "fun" is telling your opponent another player has slept with their girlfriend. Yeah that's really funny and classy at the same time.

My point was he isn't putting on an act. And I didn't mention my version of fun.

He is putting out an act. All of the headlines over the past couple of years are about the decline of the "big 4" AND how there are fewer characters these days compared to the McEnroe era.

It's very obvious Kyrgios doesn't have the drive to improve, he is behaving almost like a Ronnie O'Sullivan and playing for the headlines and media coverage.

He craves controversy and it's a shame because he is a good tennis player with potential

Honestly, I've never done any of the above. I spend too much money on my racquets to possibly damage them. I will call myself certain expletives though.

Did you see the video? I bet NOT!

Too bad he didn't hit himself in the eye with it, that would have been a fitting punishment.

This video proves the amount of talent this guy has. To bounce a racquet as high as he did and landing square on the second bounce shows the amount of feel/control he has over his racquet. Only if he had half that control over his brain he could be a grand slam champion

It could be worse. He could take off his shorts and show everyone the ultimate health and safety risk - a Greek hairy set of sphericals.

But let's not go there, everyone is safe for now. Let's enjoy this level of safety and focus on the fun of this sport :)

He should probably be fined and suspended for lack of effort, especially after Shanghai. Fans and sponsors need better than that if they're going to keep shelling out hard-earned samolians.

But the kid didn't even flinch at this.

Look at that stick bounce. Would definitely kick ass at bottle flipping.
Not sure about winning slams anytime soon though.

The only baby here is the person who started this demented thread.
He had a match point in the 5th set. So it could have gone either way.
He lost a tennis match, the world is still spinning. Get over it.
You missed the point completely, yah he only lost a tennis match--but there were kids nearby who could have lost an eye with his flagrantly negligent racket smash, that nearly hit the ball kid scurrying around to give him his towel. Maybe Kyigos the brat, needs six months being a ball kid for punishment on the challenger circuit. After his short lived career is over, and he blows whatever winnings he has on a Ferrari, partying and making bail, he will be washing and folding towels in a laundry.

Kyrgios is a saint compared to this man. Every moment of the match below is worth watching.

I get it now! Kyrigos is not as dumb as he acts, his strategy is to be tennis' new bad boy and follow in Johnny Mac's footsteps--make $50 mill from tennis prize money, endorsements and commentating. The only problem is, Nicky hasn't won 7 Grand Slams yet.

Yeah, he makes terrible decisions and should get suspended big had it hit someone, but calling him a baby while whining on a forum about him throwing a racquet (which im sure nearly everyone has done before, myself included, in matches that dont matter while he did it at a slam) doesnt look fantastic either

Maybe all we need is just some pasteurized ball-hitting machines, dont you think?

Farking grow up!! He is the best thing that has happened to tennis in a long time!! He's got IDENTITY! something long lost in the tennis world.

I'm not a huge fan of his game and attitude but the dude is sincere!!! have you guys read the agassi biography??? he got used to say what the audience expected to hear from him and everyone loved him! Lies upon lies upon lies. People just met the "real agassi" after the book.

I'm sick of this pasteurized athletes with their fake pleasant speaches! Tennis got bigger than this traditional fake chivalry. It got bigger than the All England Club, and you guys have to deal with it!

The kid is real, he express what he feels.

We all know that the path to become a sucessful tennis player is a PITA (the williams sisters, sampras and agassi, when asked if they wanted their kids to become tennis players all said HELL NO!)

Let the kid be himself and express his lack of motivation for christ sake! He's got the game and the skills. somewhere around the way he will find it or not, but he deserves to be on the tour!

You wish, but secretly you know he is going to get a slam without a coach and probably touch #1. Put your money where your mouth is if you disagree. $1000 says he wins a Slam in next 30 months.

I'm NOT whining, I took the effort to start a thread at TWTT, otherwise what would there be to talk about here?---rehashing the foot-fault debate? Nicky has already been fined for publicly saying his buddy did his opponent's gf, tanking and talking about it to an umpire who told him to play tennis, the fans deserve it--he's been fined and sentenced to anger management--and in the end, his behavior hasn't changed much if any. I've thrown rackets, but it's into the net where it won't hurt anyone or break. I banged my racket against a wood wall once and heard a crack and felt bad for my racket--it deserved better. I don't get hundreds of rackets a season from Prince for free. I have to buy mine and I don't give up on them until they are worn through and won't hold strings anymore. The same with my strings, they don't get replaced until they break--and then for grins unless it's a match that means something, I'll keep playing with the broken strings until they look like macaroni--it's amazing how many people don't notice that my string bed looks like a bowl of macaroni--and the interesting shots you can hit with a mess of strings--try it sometime. I really wouldn't of cared if Nicky had cracked the **** out of his stick while holding it in his hand to control it. But he flagrantly threw it head first, bouncing high out of control in proximity to many spectators, linespeople and especially a couple of ball kids doing his bidding for free carrying his towel and picking up his balls. It could have just as easily gone the other way, hitting the ball kid in the eye, and then he would have automatically forfeited the match, a la Nalbandian, when he kicked the wooden box surrounding the linesman, hitting him in the shin with it, causing injury and profuse bleeding. If it had gone down like that, Nicky would be heavily fined and suspended for a very long time and it would be head-line news. So our bad boy Nicky isn't getting it, a six month ban, sitting in the corner, may give him time to think about it and what his future income would be with out the sport of tennis.

That is arbitrary and mostly BS. If that is the standard the issues will be why is Benoit Paire on tour (tanker) or Troiki (cereal ump abuser) or Youzny (sic) (self abuse).

Exactly, oldsters who could care less if there is high level tennis anymore. Tennis seems to breed them.

Ageist--you'll be old someday too sonny, if you're lucky, but you'll be playing golf by then.
You wish, but secretly you know he is going to get a slam without a coach and probably touch #1. Put your money where your mouth is if you disagree. $1000 says he wins a Slam in next 30 months.
I don't need your money, you better hang onto it, you may need it to buy a racket with it. The only way he'll touch #1 is if he rubs up against him in the sauna.

Neither had Mcenroe before his act began

Mac was passionate about WINNING, so much so he would resort to getting into his opponent's heads with his antics. Nicky can't sustain an effort for more then two sets, he publicly announces his tanking to save his precious energy for the next tourney and party.

Easy for you to say, you still don't get the point--reading comprehension--Nicky nearly hit a kid with his racket, Youzny hit himself, if they'ed done the same thing I'd be writing the same about them. Nicky did it yesterday, your examples are OLD NEWS! Nicky needs to hit himself in the head with his racket instead--maybe he could knock some sense into himself--no one else can and he's had plenty of dutch-uncleing from the best of the Aussies. Who would want to coach him?

Mr.Lob

G.O.A.T.
Agree with OP. Nick K. threw his racquet in a reckless manner with a total disregard for the safety of others. He got lucky in that the racquet didn't take a crazy bounce and knock the ballkids teeth out. Then what kind of time would be be looking out? I think an automatic disqualification in that match, and a one month suspension warranted.

Edit: Another reason ballkids should stick with their ball handling duties. A player wants their towel, they can go get it themselves. Running up to these players, when they are throwing their little fits, is dangerous... should at least get them hazardous duty pay. o_O
