Lacoste released his AO 2023 polo and it will have his personal (seems to be playstation inspired) logo. It's on the lower part of the front, so won't be as visible as big 3 logos, but it's still something.

It looks more like "DOMII" to me tbh.

"Do I look like I have 'DOMII' written on my forehead?" "No, just your shirt."

Huge fan here
Genuinely curious - why? To me, his game of flat strokes standing way back looks very ugly, his face always has a scowl, he has a lot of bad incidents of what he says to opponents/umpires etc. throughout his career from his junior days, he tanks some matches when he is losing, he doesn‘t play well on the most enjoyable surface to watch (clay with its long rallies) etc.

I hit relatively flat. He moves phenomenally for a guy his size. He wasn’t entirely talked about as a junior to be an upcoming GS winner yet he did it and achieved more than the “more talented ones”.

His banter is entertaining and I honestly haven’t seen him do what you’re claiming to all his opponents. His face of not smiling doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy and seems like able on tour.

And if you want to check umpire issues - even Rafa and Fed have had incidents with them. Federer after matches with Novak displayed poor sportsmanship after his UsO loss having match points. So yeah- if you want to nitpick- overall his game is enjoyable to watch bc it’s old school and it’s a pain in the rear to defeat.

He doesn’t like clay. But making the French Qtrs doesn’t mean he doesn’t play well. He still has relative success

He’s misunderstood. He’s a great person, but a brilliant competitor. Ruthless and cold on the court, warm and endearing off the court. He plays his own way, gets heckled, and still beats your favorite player. How could you not love that??

I love this logo. Better than anything since the RF and Rafa Bull.

That "DJ" and "DT" stuff is garbage and uninventive

How do you know what he is like off the court and why does it matter anyway to whether I should like him as a player or not - tennis pros entertain me and intersect with my life only when they are on court at a tournament I’m attending or on my TV.

I can’t understand any of the other reasons you give for liking him either as it is the opposite of what I look for and like,

- I like those who are friendly and smile a lot on court while exhibiting good sportsmanship
- I like those with textbook technique with no weaknesses the best
- Players who get heckled usually deserve it for their off putting behavior on court and that’s not a reason for me to like someone. I like good persons and those kind of players don’t get heckled.
- I don’t have a favorite player and if I did, why would I like a player who beats him?

The only way Medvedev entertains me is when he loses - the last two AO finals were fun for me. I’ve never liked him since he was fined for racist behavior on court towards an umpire when he was a junior.

Lacoste is a clothing brand I like and I’ve never been happy about them sponsoring Medvedev.

You can’t understand or comprehend? Unless someone doesn’t share your view or see it your way?

Agreed, it would avoid me having to host a bunch of stuff too to post. Also on the logo front I don't mind it, but being in the business of design myself, if you have to explain the logo, it's not a good/effective logo.

Agree, he shouldn't have to explain it.

It should have been a commercial with the headline "WTF are we looking at?" Then have random people vs tennis players throwing in their guesses. Ultimately, leaving it as one of life's mysteries.

That's exactly what I was going to say, if you have to explain the logo, it is a bad logo.

Yes it is.

There are many logos from many years ago that are recognizable and are product of other times but people don't understand, is not the same judgment we can make with a logo made today.

Look at BMW's logo, not many people knows those are propellers but who cares? They've been around so long that their logo is known everywhere, what would happen if they change it? They would lose their identity so they keep their identity unchanged besides little tweaks over the years.

NNow look at Kia's new logo, you know that there has been over 30000 searches a month for KN cars? That's not what you want when you're making a logo, you want instant recognition, you warn it to carry the message cleanly and Daniil's logo doesn't, that's why they felt they had to explain it so they can skip part of the confusion and start positioning it.

II bet the logo was Daniil's design and they had to keep it close to what he wanted and that's cool but it poses the problem of not following simple design cues that are there to help make clean and easy to understand logos.

TTake for instance Federer's logo, I don't really like it from a design standpoint but it is clean and simple, easily recognized everywhere, even when it was launched, people understand what's the deal there, same happens with Nadal's logo, the best around, simple and easy to understand besides being very cool.

I still can't agree lol

"ice cold" was like...Sampras. Medvedev shows too much emotion to be called 'cold' and he does get mentally rattled. He's very, very edgy. Not like Pete, or Borg, or other 'quiet men'
Agreed. Great to have some solidarity among us Fedfans.

Unfortunately it looks like Daniil's retail polo will now have small croc logo (like for other Lacoste players). His personal logo was moved to the right sleeve.

Can you elaborate?
I wouldn't call him a racist, it's a bit overdrawn. He said the ump was friends with his opponent and they both happened to be of African descent and was DQed. I've seen more positive things from his end than negative I much prefer his spicy attitude over the likes of kyrgios for example.

An overt racist is Lleyton Hewitt and his tirade against James Blake.

I completely disagree. Especially the "RF" logo. Speaking merely as someone who's had a couple of logo design classes, aside from the "D" and "M", I have no idea what's being conveyed by Med's logo. That's not good.

Yeah in todays world you can’t judge a situation anymore. It all is judged by “who” is involved and what t
