I have a platform stance on my serve, mostly because I like simplicity and I'm still trying to develop the basics. But I see some people with pin point step serves that sometimes have huge steps, almost like they're throwing a javelin. I understand that this is supposed to add some forward momentum and power to the serve, while compromising consistency. So my question is really 2 fold, mostly out of curiosity.
How much more power does having such a large step in the pin point stance actually offer, compared to a regular pin point stance or platform stance?
How do these guys develop these pin point serve motions? They look very unnatural to me, and there's so much going on.
