Laserfibre new string - Made in the USA

Laserfibre has a new string called Native Tour. Launching in mid July as I have heard from them. It's the first co-poly ever produced in the USA. I just received it and cannot wait to play test it.

This is very cool! Love to see a poly made in the USA. I use Laserfibre Vorso, it would be great if they could make that in the USA as well. Support made in America!!
 
Wouldn't the actual first co-poly made in the USA be ashaway monogut? They say their strings are made in the US.
 
Made is the USA - I question that - that is on a printed label - not sure if the sets state have a made in stamp on them - the site does not state where - if is was in the USA > their web site would be flagging it everywhere, pun intended!
if they "don't" state where they are made, what does that tell you????

When you say ALU Power, do you refer to the silver version, ice blue version, or somewhere in between (like the limited edition purple version)? Thanks :)

Ashaway used to claim it was made in the USA, except if you actually read what the package says in the back, it would say something like, "Extruded in Germany."

So I was puzzled as to how it could be extruded in Germany yet be "made in the USA".

They can claim whatever they like, but their strings aren't made in the USA.

Not quite sure about that. But mine are stringed 26-24 kg. The native tour has a better touch than the alu power. You will see it when you try it :)

  • Tension used for play-test: 50 lbs mains / 48 lbs crosses. Strung two piece on a constant pull machine. There was some issues with the last 8 or so crosses. String is being more difficult to work with. One strange effect was there was "ghosting" from the clamps somewhat like when stringing a multi. Also the string had the feel of a crisp multi at times when stringing. The knots tighten up like a multi... very neat and clean.. tight! This string almost reminds me of "Babolat Origin" when stringing it up. This is not your standard co-poly. I would bet this some sort of special process... super co-poly or hybrid process.
  • Regular string set up: 52 lbs mains / 50 lbs crosses. I have been doing so much play-testing... Hard to remember what my regular set-up is. Just completed the Volkl V-Pro Blue 17G play-test. When not play-testing.. it is Tourna Big Hitter Silver 17G and Forten Sweet 17G.
  • Racquet used for test: Used a stock Wilson BLX Blade 98 (18 x 20). The Gold / Black one... One before the 2012 issue (2010)??
  • Power of test string: I found the power to be low to medium. As the string broke in it became more powerful of course. The power was there not just on tap unless you made solid contact. I loved the power level in the frame I used. This version of the Blade 98 (18 x 20) might be the most powerful version out there. http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/reviews/BLXB98/BLXB98review.html. The TW team gave a power rating of 83. The power level was very consistent... no hot spots!
  • Feel (Comfortable? Firm? Stiff? Mushy? Muted? Crisp? Boardy off-center? ) : This is where I feel Laserfibre has something special. The feel is not unlike Babolat Origin. A bit muted but easy to feel the ball and drop the ball in spots I can't with a poly / syn. gut hybrid. Nice pocketing and no sling shot effect I get sometimes with polys. Really plays closer to some thing like Head Velocity for me. Easy on the arm... Impressive feel for a poly.. or whatever this is..
  • Spin: Very average... very little string movement.. snap-back is there.. I was expecting more spin... of course I am using a 18 x 20 Blade 98. Again, reminds me of Babolat Origin.
  • Durability: 12 hours playing like new. Super impressed... again in an 18 x 20 you expect more durability. In general I use a 16 x 19 (100 head).
  • Playability Duration: A bit firm in the first few hours... playing sweet ... sweet .. sweet now. Loving the connection to the string-bed. Feeling a bit more free power now... nothing major. In this frame.. I can see me getting 15-18 good hours from this set-up.
  • Control: Love the control of this set-up. This string and 18 x 20 Blade 98 creates a point and shoot set-up. Laser like control. If I could get a bit more spin.. it would help with getting some of my kick serves to drop. But... this is my 1st go around with the Blade 98.. so some of that might be my slow adjustment to the tighter pattern
  • Compare to string used most often: My old stand by set-up is nothing like this string in a full bed... Feel better, control better.. but less free power. Enjoyed this string..
  • List any additional thoughts. Can't wait to hear about the construction of this string. This is a winner and very unique..
