Laserfibre Single or Double action Clamps?

I am going to upgrade the my clamps on my MS200TT and was wondering what most Laserfibre users prefer. The single action cost about $120 more than the double action and I want to know if it is worth the extra $$$ for the upgrade.

Thanks

I think DA is better...

what base of experience do you have recommending this? Like has been mentioned in the thread, it's all personal preference, the single action clamps are very similar to the DA clamps, they swivel so it's not an issue as to design. I hear the SA's have slightly more drawback than the DAs, but either way, the clamps you choose WILL be of good quality. I use the DA clamps and have had no problems with them, they are solid, and the base's quality is 2nd to none.

I have the SA clamps and have never used the DA clamps, so I can't really speak about them. After waffling back and forth, the main decision point for me was my laziness. I figured both were excellent, but the SA's had one less step in their use, so I went with them. Definitely no regrets.

No personal experience on this, but some users have reported more drawback in the single action clamps. But, I've never heard that anyone thought this effected the quality of the string job.

Single action are the way to go. I have the dx model with the foot pedal and sa clamps-awesome machine.

I'm actually finding it kind of surprising that there is this many SA supporters, not that the SA are bad, but i typically see recommendations that go both ways...

I sure hope ww hasn't read this outrageous anti-LF flame ! :-)

Anyway, I have SA clamps and I did notice that there is drawback. Since I've never used the DA clamps, I can't say if the SA drawback is any better or worse than DA clamp drawback.

Bottom line for me in regards to the drawback is that it is taken up during the subsequent pull so that it really has no effect. There was at least one lengthy thread with lots of details regarding this, so if any cares to get more detailed information about it, please do a search.

LOL! I'll make sure the fire truck is pulled up to the curb in front of the house! :-) The reason I even mentioned it is that a little bit of drawback seems to bother some people even if it is taken up on the next pull.

I've asked Tim at Laserfibre which ones are best and he said it really is personal preference. He said most people who get the DA clamps and want to upgrade to the SA clamps actually prefer the DA clamps after using the SA clamps because thats what they had gotten accutomed to. I personally use the DA clamps and have been perfectly happy with them considering they were cheaper to start with.

The thing is... Single action swivel clamps aren't really a well tested and perfected system. The drawbacks are also a problem.

Doubles

I have the the MS200TT machine with the double acting clamps. They work well, fast, not much drawback. I have not used the single acting clamps on this machine, but have on other machines, they have a little more drawback, but with the MS200TT constant tension, this should not affect the string job. It is a matter of preference.
