LaserFibre Synthetic Gut?

Has anyone had a chance to play with the LaserFibre Synthetic Gut string?

If so, how does it compare to some of the "industry standards" - Prince Synthetic Gut with Duraflex, Babolat Conquest, Gosen OG Sheep Micro, or even it's more expensive brother FiberTour?

Any idea why T-W doesn't sell this string?

Thanks for your input.

I've been a long time user of Prince Syn. Gut. First the original, now the one with Duraflex. As a point of reference, my normal racket/string setup is a Wilson nCode95 61 strung with PSG w/Duraflex at around 60lbs. With this racket, this string setup has a muted, controlled, comfortable feel to it, which I'm fine with. Control is a big part of my game and this string gives me that. I can hit hard with this setup and feel confident of keeping the ball deep and in play.

However, I'll likely switch to LaserFibre Classic Syn. Gut. I recently strung my nCode95 with Laserfibre Classic Syn. Gut also at 60lbs. It was the first time I'd used it. It was good for about 10 sessions before breaking. It's definitely more lively, less muted and more powerful than PSG. Serves definitely have more giddy-up with this string and surprisingly, serve control was very good. I also think its pretty arm friendly. I may string my next set of it slightly tighter to see if I can add a bit more control (though control is not bad as is).

I haven't tried the other strings you mentioned. No idea why TW doesn't carry it. I'm definitely impressed with it.

Thanks a lot SC in MA. It sounds like it's worth giving a shot. I'll probably be using it only as the cross string in a hybrid with either Signum Pro Poly Plasma, Babolat Pro Hurricane, or Luxilon BB Ace, but I'm sure that even though it's only in the cross, it will still effect the feel of the racquet.

What color did you use?

I know that it comes in a WIDE variety (optic yellow, white, natural, red, blue, purple, grey, black), but wasn't sure if the playability of the different colors varies like the Prince Synthetic Gut seems to.

Although I've read, "Exclusive color dying process allows each set to have same playing characteristics regardless of color."

Thanks again for your feedback.

Given the colors you mention, I believe it was natural. It kinda had a very light yellow tint to it, but not enought to make me think it was optic yellow.

I love this string. I think it compares to higher end monos like Gamma TNT2. I used to use tnt2 but now I switched to laserfibre classic, it is about half as expensive and plays better. I asked TW to carry it but I guess they didn't think enough people would buy it. I currently stock this as a medium string (> regular syn < multis)

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention, given that you ARE the SpinMeister.:-)

I don't know if this is related to the fact that I'm trying to add more spin to my game, but I did notice that I was able to more easily produce spin with this string than usual. Also, the spin seemed to have very good bite. And string movement was not bad at all.

laserfiber classic syn gut is also my favorite basic synthetic, plays crisp & lively, the other syn gut i like is sweet 16 fwiw. TW should carry the LF classic in reels
