Legend
Today, 18 year-old Alex Michelsen (born August 25, 2004) plays in the Newport final against Mannarino, having beaten Cressy, Duckworth, McDonald, and Isner.

33 years ago, 18 year-old Sampras won the Manchester title in 1990, beating Volkov, Rive, Evernden, Jelen, and Bloom.

In between, has any other 18 year-old made a grass final?

Ivanisevic was 19 when he won Manchester in 1991, beating Sampras in the final.

Hewitt was 19 when he won Queen's Club in 2000, beating Sampras in the final.

Zverev was 19 when he made the Halle final in 2016, losing to Mayer.

Am I missing anyone?

Andrei Medvedev was 18 when he made the final of Halle in 1993.
Richard Gasquet was 18 when won Nottingham in 2005 (but barely, he turned 19 about a week later)
Felix Auger-Aliassime was 18 when he made the final of Stuttgart in 2019.

Wow, great list! So, Michelsen is the 9th youngest player in the Open Era to make a grass final, just behind Sampras (Borg and Becker being on the list 3 times each ahead of him).

Of the 8 players ahead of him, six reached at least #6 in the rankings, with Wilkison (career-high #23) and Amritraj (career-high #18) being the exceptions.

So, if Michelsen wins today, he'll be the youngest player since Sampras to win a grass title (just younger than Gasquet).
