Last pics of Agassi's hair. First pics of shaved head.

1994 US Open:

1995 Australian Open:

EDIT: he still had long hair at the last event of 1994, the Grand Slam Cup in the second week of December:

So some time between mid-December 1994 and early January 1995. I do remember he'd been snapped on the street sans follicles by the paparazzi during the off-season; I think that was likely mid to late December.

Further edits, he went properly shaven by the end of 1995:

1995 Davis Cup final in early December:

I believe in his autobiography he explains that it was some type of wig/hair-system and the hat was an integral part of it.
So the poster is incorrect. That 1994 US Open is not the last known pic of his hair. Must go farther back....

Not even sure 92 Wimbledon is all real.

Already had hair assistance in 1990
Agassi reaches his first major final. But no one thinks he’ll stop there.

“I’m facing Gomez, from Ecuador, whom I just beat weeks ago [in Key Biscayne],” Agassi says. “He’s 30, on the verge of retiring—in fact, I thought he was retired.”

Then, as Agassi says, “catastrophe strikes.”

Catastrophe, in this case, strikes in the shower. That’s where, the night before the final, Agassi feels his hairpiece “suddenly disintegrate in my hands…the weave is coming undone, the thing is falling apart.”

The next day, Agassi’s brother goes on a wild goose chase across Paris in search of bobby pins. After finally finding some, they use 20 of them to tie his hairpiece in place.

According to Agassi, though, he spends the match worrying that it’s going to fall off and “land on the clay, like a hawk my father shot from the sky.”

He pictures millions of incredulous fans leaning closer to their TVs and asking, “Did Andre Agassi’s hair just fall off?”

I guess you guys haven’t read his book. He said he started wearing wigs from the start of his pro career in the mid-Eighties. It was never his own hair when he was creating a brand name with his flashy hairstyles.

C'mon people, read the question. "Anyone know the exact date of the head shave ?"

You two are answering a different question, i.e. when did he start wearing extensions? That's covered in his autobiography:

"Philly recently flew to New York to meet with an owner of Hair Club for Men, to buy himself a few toupees. He’s finally given up on the headstands. He phones to tell me about the astonishing variety of toupees the Hair Club offers. It’s a hair smorgasbord, he says. It’s like the salad bar at Sizzler, only all hair.

I ask him to pick one up for me. Every morning I find a little more of my identity on my pillow, in my sink, in my drain.

I ask myself: You’re going to wear a hairpiece? During tournaments?

I answer: What choice do I have?"

Based on the paragraphs before and after this, he first started wearing extensions between Indian Wells and Memphis in late February 1988. Now the thing to remember, and what is clearly demonstrated in the Aussie Open/US Open '95 photos, is that he still had hair, it was just a rapidly-receding hairline. It's likely he had a Bill Bailey-style look, with a hairpiece to cover the front. The pony tail at the back is probably his.

Funny topic. I haven't read Agassi's book but it's crazy to think that he started wearing extensions in 1988 lol. The first pic of "shaved" Agassi that I remember was taken in December 1994 and published in a magazine in January 1995. I think I could still find it if I searched deep. I can't remember where it was taken but I may recall that it was a busy place...

Those were the pre internet/tennis channel days. I remember he played the year end masters and then before the Aussie 95 open there was a pic of him in my local newspaper at a warm up exo and his hair was gone. I was shocked. I don’t think it was even on sports center. If that were today he probably would have live streamed the cut.

Since we're in the FPP section, i.e. the "Old Farts Reminiscing" Department...

Andre Agassi played at the Volvo International in New Haven, Connecticut in 1995, in his first full season on tour as a cue-ball. The longtime director of the Volvo tournament was Jim Westhall, who was known for his big head of hair. Agassi made a bet with Westhall: if I win the tournament, I get to shave your head as part of the trophy ceremony. Well, win it he did, beating eighth seed Richard Krajicek in three sets. Better yet, the final is on Youtube, including the post-match buzz (timestamp for that is 1:22:19).

Unfortunately the quality's a bit mid-1990s, but here's a mid-shear photo captured by a local paper.

I agree the ponytail for at least 92 Wimbledon appears real.

It's quite clear Agassi had plenty of back hair and to lose any hair prior to 20 is already rare so I don't see how he's more than partial in the front at 22.

If one googles images from 88 or 89 USO (most copyrighted and I can't insert here) you'll see the clear outline of his peak. All he was doing then was having a puff in addition protruding. By the 90 French he was trying to avoid a receding peak and otherwise thinning on top.

With the cap ponytail the only thing I'll say is look at the sweat. He is using some filler weave, but 92 French it's pretty soaked in some matches. But he seems less reliant in 93-94.

Agassi's book is one of the best things I've ever read.
I am jealous of you.
I've read Pete's, Mac's and Boris' book, so maybe I'll come to read Andre's. But as much as I like the three others, I don't have as much sympathy for Andre, whom I find arrogant or jealous in too many occasions. Just a personal opinion though.

I've heard about the wig at the French Open or the Crystal meth story -- I think -- when the book came out but it's anecdotal to me. I'd like to know how things really happen on the tennis pro tour(s) behind the scenes. For instance, some people (ex-pro or doctors) wrote about cycling in the 90s and I read some crazy stories which were beyond what I could imagine lol. Tennis has avoided (doping) scandals so far but I can't imagine any clean pro sports anyway.

Slightly off-topic sorry.

Just imo, but I agree. Never a fan and even more so after reading his book (once is enough). Yes self centered and arrogant and maybe grew up a little later on, maybe...

i wanna know how he held the wig down....certainly it wasn't just the headband, that would need to be tight enough to give him migraines during matches.
