There is a thing that I cannot wrap my mind around. If you tell this to people in the past, they would think you are crazy.
"In the future, we will drive a car (It is a machine that allows us to move without walking) to the gym to get on a treadmill (it is a machine that allows us to walk without moving)."
People would think we are re-****ed.

Not really. The gym is a social and educational place as well as a place to work out. It has water, showers, bathrooms, first-aid facilities, personal trainers, instructions and equipment and resources that don't make sense for most on an individual basis.

The answer is no. Dancers are very aware of machines. Intimately aware of machines. Because machines are imitators, copycatters of dancers (people). Forget Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. The fear of machines are immortalized in the ballets The Nutcracker and Coppélia, which I had the privilege to see at a local ballet school. Dancers are very aware of machines a century before you were born.

I've written chess programs.
I've worked in a croissant factory, Vie De France, as a grave yard shift supervisor. A croissant factory is one giant kitchen. I felt like I was Jack and the Beanstalk and I walked into a giant kitchen. The mixer is identical to a a kitchen mixer, but the capacity is of a bath tub. The "toaster" is identical to a sliced bread toaster, the size of a truck. The refrigerator is the size of an apartment.
All the machines mimic the motion of one baker. A machine to mix. A machine to knead. A machine to shape. A machine to cut. A machine to roll. Etc . . . The process of baking is broken down into a step by step process in which different machines operate each step.
All of the machines is just an imitation of a person.
Again, you don't need a computer. Just walk into a local chess club.

I was captain of the high-school chess team (and the math team), played on the college team and was a ranked amateur player.
So you did not need a computer to play chess.

Yes, you can use machines. Can you design and build them? Do you know about logistics, abstraction, language theory, discrete mathematics?
Could you write an operating system? A database query engine? Have you ever written a commercial artificial intelligence application?

You don't need pieces or a board. I used to play blindfolded simultaneous chess. Guillotine. 5-minute, etc. Anyone can play. If you want to learn about machines, write a program to play.
If you want a really basic foundation, program The Game of Life. Really basic stuff but you get an idea of the simplest machines.
Try to use your own natural intelligence first, if you have any.

Actually it isn't. I walked 105 miles in the last seven days.
And walking sideways on the stairs certainly isn't. And you can't get the acceleration that you can on a machine.
My bad. I do admit I do not have "financial acumen".
