I've been lead taping for a long time and sort of consider myself an expert at this.
One new technique I've been using is the "pyramid". With this technique, you can concentrate the weight of the racket in the hitting zone of the racket, and the results are very good.
Initially, you apply fairly long strips from 8-10, 2-4 (or 7-11, 1-5). Then on top of this layer, you apply a shorter strip in the center of the original strip, say from 8:30-9:30 2:30-3:30. Then another shorter layer centered on the second layer.
What this does is concentrate the mass in the hitting zone, and I've used it very successfully on my Ti80 and RDX500mid.
I've also found that I don't like lead tape at the 5-7 positions and in the throat because it seems more difficult to whip the racket during follow-through.
If the racket feels too whippy, 1-2 inches at the 12 position seems to fix this. Surprisingly, even 1" at 12 is very noticeable. I've added 1" at 12 on my Ti80 and RDX500mid since they felt a bit too whippy.
