Laura Robson is a more impressive young player than Sloane Stephens

Ok I know Sloane is ranked much higher and all the players above Sloane in the rankings are 2-3 years older than her, but Laura has had to deal with extreme over the top expectations from the British media since she won junior Wimbledon at the age of 14. Also she is tall and still has to fill into her frame and once she does this, her movement will get even better.

I love Sloane's effortless game and variety, but I think Robson has more talent and seems to be mentally stronger. Sloane has much better movement, but Robson is tall and her movement will get better as she fills into her frame.

Robson's timing and ability to take the ball early is a very special talent and rare talent. Sloane has great court smarts, flashy forehand and is a very fast mover, but she can't take the ball early like Robson can.

On the mental strength aspect, Robson was far more impressive mentally in her match against Clijsters than Sloane was in her win against Schiavone. Sloane stumbled over the line against Schiavone. Robson had to deal with the dissapointment of missing two matchpoints, and yet she came out and played an incredible tie breaker to beat Clijsters.

It is possible to praise a player without comparing to another rising star.

Laura Robson has great potential, but remember Clijsters only played 6 tournaments this year.

she clearly didn't look match fit/tough/ready.

Great win either way, it got down to the wire and she came through

Clijsters looked fine, had set points/break points/was ahead in each tiebreak - Robson just pulled the win off.

Dangerous upcoming lefty, Robson. When 'on' she's exciting to watch - moves very well, serve is effective, flashy forehand when inside the court. Big name.

isnt it a bit early to compare the two? why not just watch both and see how their careers evolve?

Especially since there is the British media pressure on Robson already.

"OMG, i have to do this, that, that, that AND be better than Sloane... OMG"

They are both good but Sloane has better results for now in Singles. I like Sloane better...her game feel more reliable than the tipsy Robson.

I don't know. Ranking doesn't lie and media pressure is kind of a weak card with Murray's shadow hanging over her. She still has to go out and win points and this USO seems a bright start.
