Dude he can't even play from the baseline that's why Nadal is at the back the whole match. Guy is done physically, he can't put pressure on that knee.

Lets hope they can win this doubles for a great ending.

Sadly yes, and as much as people joked about Fed's form at 33-35 years old most of us would have loved nothing more to see him moving and playing like that one more time
It really is edge of a cliff thing. One minute playing top level tennis at 38, and suddenly 6 months later its pretty much all over

Federer looks okay, but his anticipation and reflexes have declined massively. He’s taken the right decision IMO. Anyway such a delight to watch him play no matter what
It's almost as if those skills would benefit from playing on Tour regularly

I think you can recover anticipation and reflexes to an extent with competitive play
But no chance to get movement back - and once you lose the footwork, you are always on the back foot

I wonder why? Nowhere near as much pressure on the knees and the crowds would absolutely love to see it. If he found a high quality partner I could see him being quite successful. Martina was capable of playing at a decent enough level well into her forties so I don't see why Roger couldn't as well.

Because he is 41 and probably wants to enjoy life outside tennis now. If he is gonna play doubles it means he needs to still travel and practice. He just wants out now and I think he is happy with that decision.

ITT: people surprised that healthy players who have played doubles all year are looking better at it than 2 old blokes who haven't done so since 2019
And Tiafoe/Sock can't even win a set :-D

Who watches the watchmen, who guards the guards? It's Matteo Berrettini ofc, schooling Fedal like he's their dad

Agassi could hardly move his last 2 seasons either letd not forget and he took peak Fed to a good match at the US Open in the final . You're telling me Fed with some further rehab on the knee can't take these mugs?

Didn't Fed lose his last real set 0-6? That's about how another year would go for him. I wish it wasn't true but that's the reality.
