Laver Cup 2022

What Tsitsipas did on all 4 match points was just criminal. It's like he intentionally tried to go to the 3rd set match tiebreaker.

Franklin played a good 3rd set but still. That was ridiculous

This is why Tsitsipas will never be a great player. Has all the talent, but simply no mental appetite. I’ve hardly ever seen him win close TBs where it was not gifted to him. He might be top 10 rank wise, but mentally he’s top 50.

Crazy how I go from wanting Tsitsipas to win, to not wanting him to win another match in his career. Complete joke what he played on those MPs. Shot selection, execution, everything was pathetic

His brain switches off, his legs turn to jelly and you know he’s desperately hoping for a gift from the opponent. He’s just so scared in the big points. I don’t think this can ever be fixed unfortunately.

The one year I genuinely rooted for Team Europe (just so Fed at least got to celebrate one last victory) is the one year they're actually going to blow it.

Match tiebreak kind of makes winning first set less valuable. Who loses it, to win the match needs to win the second, and just a bit more.

Well no, but it's certainly more momentum for whoever wins 2nd set and statistically it means winning player can often have won less total games/points.

Winning team gets $250K each. You must live a very charmed life where $250K is totally meaningless. There are no ATP points but that doesn't mean it's meaningless or an exhibition. Wimbledon also had no points.

It's a partly invitational team tournament. I'd say Wimbledon was probably more of an exhibition this year than Laver Cup. LC for the most part takes the top ranked players in addition to a few who are there by invitation. So yeah, they are playing for money which makes it not an exhibition. It's a little more casual than a major but still not an exhibition.

I'm actually surprised it's only 250k. I guess it's cool if you only play 1 match? But for a guy like Novak for example to get 250k for two singles and a double is literally lowball. I mean when you consider his sponsorships. Cause sure if you win 3 matches at a 500 I think you get less than 250k typically but then you'd get points.
