The Laver Cup would have been a great charity exhibition tournament in the 2000s when we could have had some real stars taking part.
Not just the big four of Europe with Roger, Rafa, Novak, and Murray, but also Ferrer, Tsonga, Santoro, Monfils, Safin etc.
Team World could have had Hewitt, Roddick, Del Potro, Blake, Nalbandian, Gonzales etc etc.
In other words real popular crowd favourites who knew how to whip a crowd into a frenzy and had grit and tenacity in spades.
Unfortunately it started about 10-15 years too late, and without Fedal playing doubles together there's no real reason to watch it aside from "ooh is there tennis on?"
Last year I made sure to tune in to see Federer's final match, and I'll forever kick myself for not tuning in to see the Fedal doubles a few years ago, but this year for I've got no desire to watch it at all.
I don't want to spend my free time watching a bunch of bored looking athletes not caring about what they're doing or making any effort to interact with each other, especially when you've got Federer and McEnroe on the sidelines who despite having a broken knee and a bus pass between them, could still put on a better show than anyone else there.
