The Laver Cup will take place at the state-of-the-art Chase Center, home of the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors and WNBA’s Golden State Valkyries, from September 19–21, 2025. This will be the eighth edition of the event and the first time it has been staged on the US West Coast, with Chase Center transforming into a world-class tennis arena for the first time in its history.

Team World will feature Taylor Fritz (World No.4), Alex de Minaur (No.8), Francisco Cerundolo (No.19), Alex Michelsen (No.32), João Fonseca (No.44), and Reilly Opelka (No.67) under the leadership of Captain Andre Agassi and Vice Captain Pat Rafter.*

Team Europe, captained by Yannick Noah alongside Vice Captain Tim Henman, will bring a formidable lineup with Carlos Alcaraz (World No.2), Alexander Zverev (No.3), Holger Rune (No.11) and Casper Ruud (No.12), plus Mensik (No.16) and Cobolli (No.26).

I wonder if there is a way to fix the schedule so after US Open we go to team competitions. Maybe start with Laver cup and Fix Davis Cup and transition to whatever the old Hopman Cup was.

Still like that Laver Cup provides a lot of tennis over 3 days with relative star power. But for some reason it still gives me Exo Vibes.

Just team tennis after the 4 majors.. Hope someone in power reads this.

If only Fraud had created a world cup like event. The ATP cup at the start of the year just don't generate interest.

The same event in September - October and a shortened Asian swing ( why do we have a masters in Paris when we have a Slam in the same city??) would generate interest and could become a focal point for players looking for national glory for their country.

It would fit so well post the GS season has ended and nothing is left for people to be invested in. It could bring and maintain interest for both players and the fans.

Laver Cup just accentuates the pompousness, exclusiveness and arrogance of Tennis and of Europe. It's bordering on segregation and racism. At the start Europe was assuming they are a more superior specimen and other continents are less superior.

It's not easily accessible for most people in the world and only select few can play. Tennis is already an expensive sport and we should not make it even more exclusive and inaccessible.

I'd love if they brought back the ATP Cup, just that one year they did it was insanely exciting, did not feel like an exho at all to me. Laver Cup sort of half feels like an exho to me.. at least now they are counted as official ATP matches and count towards the H2H

That's quite the spiel given that Europe is an appendage of America.

While not universal, a perception of European cultural superiority over American culture exists, rooted in factors like Europe's long history, established traditions, and perceived moderation in social rights and education, contrasting with an American image of rapid industrialization and perceived extravagance. This viewpoint can manifest as cultural criticism, a rejection of American influence, and a belief in the superiority of European societal structures, even if it's not a formal or widespread ideology.

It also excludes women

The Nadal/Federer vs. Sock/Querry was a pinnacle match-up in all of tennis. Some other decent match ups, but mostely kinda meh.

The lower ranked players need to earn points and money. Give the money to Futures, Challengers and 250 events. Laver Cup only makes the rich get richer.

People who don’t want to play in team events can play the atp events for money but no points

it was mean when tiafoe hit Federer , i thought it was low class since fed was

1. obviously hobbling
2. Roger’s final match
3. with Rafa !
3. With Rafa ans his teammate , anybody that would choose to hit either of them is extremely evil. You may say he was just trying to win the point, but that doesn’t mean they are not evil. Case in point: kyrgios

Alcaraz complained tennis schedule is too tight and it is killing players.

Then he plays Laver Cup LOL.

Carlos Alcaraz has repeatedly criticized the ATP calendar, expressing that the schedule is too tight, leading to frequent injuries and burnout for players. He argues that the growing number of mandatory tournaments leaves players with insufficient time for rest and recovery, stating the demanding schedule is "killing us". Alcaraz's concerns highlight the physical and mental toll of the demanding tennis season, which includes many mandatory events and a lack of meaningful breaks.

Laver cup is bad only if you are a Djokovic fan (because Fed is in the limelight, even though Fed did it primarily to honor Laver, Borg, McEnroe and the previous era icons ) or if you cannot make it to Laver Cup. All neutral fans enjoy it.

Federer does not necessarily need the money Laver Cup makes.

Why ? First of, Laver Cup and Davis cup are not exhos.
Because you were proposing that players who play 250 tournament can get money but not points. It's only fair if they play Laver Cup they should lose points because they get more money there.

Laver Cup is for those who merit that. They need to be either top ranked or have star power or some USP.

LOL Laver Cup does not award any ATP points, which even a Challenger does. It is just a money-making exho.

Olympic also doesn’t award points . Davis cup also doesn’t

They are also exho ?

H2h gets counted in all of these .
It is a very very important with a unique flavor in the tennis calendar like no other

De Minaur complained tennis schedule is too much and it is affecting players' health.

Then he plays Laver Cup LOL.

Alex de Minaur says there's 'too much tennis' after shock French Open exit

there maybe pier pressure there... Raz being #1 and Minaur being auzzie.

the schedule is way too much. bad for the players, diminishing return for the fans.

actually on this topic, if Joker retires and does something about the players pay, I'd put him goat WAY above Fedal.... not to say anyone is obligated to do anything, and going against the establishment is probably bad for the bank account, but that's exactly what would make the effort so noble.

The Laver Cup is competing directly with the WTA's "The World Cup Of Tennis" being held in Shenzen. aka BJK cup.
The BJK cup sounds far more interesting than the shameless Fed Laver Cup money grab.

Federer only cares about his ego and his brand, to keep his popularity, to keep money rolling in. He doesn't care if Laver Cup is intruding ATP tennis schedule and divert fans' attention from the real ATP tours. He doesn't care if more players get injured or worn out.

On the contrary Djokovic with PTPA, LISTEN to players' complaints and they work hard to get lower ranked players more prize money, and now they listen to players' complaint about tennis schedule that is too much. They want tennis to decrease the density of the schedule so that players get more rest and get less injuries.

All Laver Cup cares about is money for themselves, not for all tennis players. Djokovic and PTPA is wiser and see the bigger picture and want to help less fortunate pro players. Federer doesn't see the big picture, he just wants his golden baby exho to keep money rolling in while promoting his new racquet at the same time.

If players depend on PTPA, they will get no more than a duffel bag or 1000 extra miles or 3 stays in a year in an airline lounge.

The Laver cup is to honor yesteryear legends and at the same time increase the bonding and camaraderie of the tennis players and community in a very unique event. One needs to praise Godsick for the excellent creation and not be jealous about it .

If Djokovic brought the Laver cup, we still praise it . If Federer steered PTPA, it would still be laughed at.

Ex ATP CEO certainly did not laugh at PTPA because he suddenly resigned after PTPA filed a lawsuit against ATP and tennis governing bodies.

If players want to honour past legends, they should improve their game and become Grand Slam champions, not complaining about too much tennis and then play exhibition. I'm looking at you De Minaur lol.

That lawsuit will be used as toilet paper .

That lawsuit was filed long back and the ATP CEO resignation has nothing to do with that. Relax

What they should do is select guys from 300+ ranking to play doubles with top players will atleast give those poor guys some money.

Laver probably gets paid merely in hospitality or perhaps a charitable donation.

They would probably lose a lot of money by not giving a sponsor naming rights.
