"Wimbledon runner-up Kevin Anderson, world No 8 John Isner, and Argentine young gun Diego Schwartzman will join Team World at the Laver Cup in Chicago from September 21 to 23.

The three top 15 players will join world No 4 Juan Martin del Potro and Australian (18) Nick Kyrgios, McEnroe’s first ‘captain’s pick’ for the team. "

McEnroe's team is missing one tennis player + substitute player. Personally, I wish Chung, the World team should be an Asian. Nishikori would also be a good choice.
Which player would you like to see in LC for McEnroe's team?

Given it's in Chicago it'd probably be wise to take another American, but I'd pick Shapovalov.

No for Nishikori. He doesn't need extra money and with no points awarded, not worth the risk for his injury prone body.
Chung would be better, but he is turning out to be quite injury prone himself.

Has to be a NextGen, very much missing in the lineup. Most likely Shapovalov, or an American.

I’m not so sure. I think they’d like to include an Asian player, and Uniqlo might ask Federer to get Kei on there so there are Uniqlo players on both teams..... I think @bobbyjr came up with this theory a while ago and it makes sense to me.

I think Nishikori would be good. He’s the biggest name in that list and would draw the biggest crowd. Also a tad more entertaining to watch than chung from an objective standpoint.

Nishikori or Chung.
They already got Isner, Delpo, Kyrgios and Anderson. All tall guys and big servers.
With Diego and Nishikori/Chung they will have more variety in player's style. And they will actually be representing the rest of the world for once. Asia is the biggest continent you know. They got one from Africa. One from Asia won't be so bad. Next time they can have a penguin represent Antarctica.
Anyways between Kei and Chung I say Chung.

Shapovalov and Fognini are scheduled to play in St. Petersburg the same week, so they're out. The top 4 World players according to the ATP rankings are all participating. The last captain's pick is most likely between Sock, Nishikori, and Chung, with Sock in the driver's seat due to his doubles prowess.

Yes. With all due respect, do you need a geography lesson?

If Jack Sock is picked...…………… oh god...……….please just no.

Last year Del Po was picked, but dropped out due to injury. Nick K is injured very often. Isner's wife is due to have her baby sometime in September.

McEnroe better have a couple of alternates lined up.

Happy for Diego to be chosen, but I think it will be very tough for him to win a match indoors against a top player.

Europe’s picks? Rafa looks like he won’t play because of DC duties the week before.

Fedr, Sascha, Dimitrov, Cilic and two captains picks - Djokovic and ?

Last pick: Thiem, Goffin or maybe even Murray or Stan if either show real form at the USO.

Hmm. I wonder what's the connection between your reply to me and the fact that the world No. 1 is not going to participate in the LC.

In the parade of pre-Wimbledon pressers, Rafa Nadal strongly hinting he will skip Roger Federer's Laver Cup this year in favour of playing Davis Cup semis.
He meant World players as in the players from the rest of the world(Excluding Europe).
I think she confused your 'World' players as the top 4 ranked players of the whole world(including Europe) and because she thinks Rafa isn't participating she said "no".

The way you interpreted my post does not make sense (top 4 in the world as opposed to top 4 Team World players) because as of yet Zverev has not confirmed his participation as well. Hope it's now cleared up.

I'm disappointed Sock's nomination for his bad season results this year. Big Mac apparently relies on Sock's quality in doubles.

I will guarantee you there are about 30 people in the entire United States have even heard of Kei Nishikori and 25 of them are probably posting on TTW. Kei wouldn't draw a crowd in the USA even if he was leaping naked from the top of the Empire State Building. He's a complete non-entity in America. The only players anyone knows or cares about are Fed or Rafa, literally. Tennis has been dead here for a long time.
