Laver Cup: Top players VS Mugs

Laver Cup is a joke.

Team Fedr+Nole+Zverev+Goffin+etc

versus

Team MUGS.

It's a very uneven field. It's almost like a very polished match fixing or draw rigging. You know the end result.

They should make it like: Team even ranking numbers vs Team odd ranking numbers. For example Team players ranked 1,3,5,7,9 vs players ranked 2,4,6,8,10. Or whatever it takes to make the strength of both teams is even.

Europe is strong. Tennis is a priority, and they do it well.
Team world is fun, driven, but not that accomplished.

Even/odd teams determined by rank sounds fun. But they'd need time to gel and feel like a team. This current team setup is natural. I just wish team world was stronger. Funny... a generatin ago it would have been usa vs world.

How about one handers vs two handers?
Blond vs brown hair?
Nike vs other?
Women vs guys?

Great response. One handers vs two handers sounds intriguing.

Using this logic, then men's tennis is a completely uneven field. Since January, 20, 2004 there have been:

56 grand slam finals played

Of those 56 finals exactly SEVEN have been won by a man not named Fed, Rafa, Djoker or Murray.

60 GS finals were played between 2004 and 2018. 50 went to the Big Three, the remainder 10 for the rest, as follows: Murray 3, Wawrinka 3, and Gaudio, Safin, Del Potro and Cilic got one each.
For the ones who add 20+17+14 = 51 for the Big Three, Federer won one of them in 2003 (his first one).

Nole is pretty much American and he wants to defect so he should play for team world

The scoring system is a joke. 1 point for day one, so viewers have to turn into Sunday to determine a winner
Big money. Nobody questions the format. Especially not borg and mac. Too big to fail.

I liked the wood idea posited by @jm1980 , for the pure tennis, but the high dollar crowds might not love the slower and more varied tennis.

If they used wood, mac could coach and also play!

I just can't love the idea of top class players playing against lower quality players. It's just so unfair. I just witnessed Fed slaughtering Kyrgios. As much as I like Fed, it was so cruel, lol. Fed should have played against Djokovic. Kyrgios should have played against Tomic.

Ha, yes, but until last month, niko and rogi always played close. Always. Lots of breakers.
