Citi Open reports what happened at the end of Sock vs Thompson match with Sock down 3-5 in the second. Sock missed shot to put himself match point down and screamed F*** as loud as a man can. Sock repeats the F bomb in chatter with the crowd. Chair umpire Mohammed Lahyani heard the verbal violations and penalizes Sock the match point. Sock has always been trash. Some people here loved his potential because his forehand spin rate was almost as good as Rafa's.

Since his Bercy win in in 2017 he's been complete and utter trash.

He was never this classy dude people thought he was. He was always a spoiled clown who thought it was his destiny to be the top American player once Roddick retired.

I hope to god Roger doesn't bring him back for his annual Laver Cup appearance this year.

Probably had more talent than Roddick overall, but not even a third of the work ethic or class.
 
A little bittersweet.

Socks a jerk and I’m glad the rules were enforced, but you just know this wouldn’t have happened to the Big 3.

I think you just answered your own question.

Although, Novak swore in Serbian I think, so maybe the ump didn't know what he was saying exactly. I know umps are given a list of phrases in each player's native languages that are profanity but doesn't mean they can pick it off in the heat of the moment.

Also, there might have been 50 people in the stands in Washington, whereas 15000 in Centre Court so it might be just a little bit harder to hear.

i assume its jmac who has the say as to who will be on his team. i wish both isner and sock didnt return, although they might need him for the doubles front.

Lol....I doubt JMac of all people would ban someone for having a foul mouth! :p He'll need him for the doubles.

Thats a stretch! I never seen Djokovic throwing F bombs in his entire career! He may have scream something, whisper in frustration and get emotional, but never anything on the scale of "F**K YOU!" to the crowd!...If there is any sort of "F***K YOU" from Djokovic its going to be as subtle as possible! Like when he won the Wimbledon most recently and gave the public a cold sarcastic smirk at the end...that is how he says - "F**K YOU" never screaming it loud like a madman for everyone to hear...

i know. tbqh im not really sure who goes out and does teh recruiting for the team members and how much say fed has on who ends up on the opposing team. i know that some are ranking based, which doesnt leave a lot of options for team world to begin with since most of the top rankings are dominated by those in europe and then you also have the likes of jmac who probably think team world =team USA featuring team canada. I know there are also some captain picks. So given jack's ranking if he does go into laver cup its because jmac picked up.

Didn't he already have a very heated discussion with Layhani last week in Atlanta when Layhani awarded a very controversial point to Kecmanovic and Sock lost the 1 set because of that? Sock has his right to be upset at Layhani.

Same at Cinci every single time I have seen him. Very rude to fans even after practice. Threw a guys pen away because that guy wasn't fast enough to take it back. Overall, you summed it well. A jerk.

Never mind, I am sure he did swear, I am not arguing he did not do it. I was just interested to see what was happening in the match at that moment, that 's all. I did watch the whole match live, but I cannot recall the very moment itself, that's why I asked, because now the whole match is uploaded by WC.... But, it is not some 'super crucial' stuff by any standard ... so, whatever, as kids put it.

I just saw the replay. Forwarded it to 5-3 in the last set. Will try to paint a picture here. I made a small video too on my phone but too damn lazy to upload anywhere, lol.

So at 30-40 (Thompson serve) Sock nets a forehand. Says "Facck" out a loud. Thompson then starts serving at 40-40 and Lahyani gives a code violation to Sock. Thompson serves and on the second or third rally ball Sock sprays his forehand, follows by same loud "Faackk". Then camera shows Thompson ready to serve at Advantage-40, he hears Lahyani give another code violation and point penalty. Thompson proceeds to throws away his balls out of pockets back to ball boys and heads to the net.

Sock meanwhile starts arguing with Lahyani starts walking towards him and in the end says something along the lines of" he's 75 years old" or something clearly talking about someone in crowd. Crowd boos. Players shake hands and pack bags and go. Tennis TV didn't show Sock talking to crowd before code violation so not sure what he said And most of his stuff he said was inaudible except for the last part. He is a big jerk though so he had it coming.
