Lead under CAP bumper guard on Head Flexpoint Prestige

I want to customize my Head Flexpoint Prestige MP by adding lead under the CAP bumper at the 3 and 9 location.

However the bumper guard narrows at these locations so that the lead would be partly uncovered at that area.

Might I use a CAP bumper+grommet set of a Microgel or Youtek Prestige (as they have a regular bumper shape)?

How do you Flexpoint Prestige users solve this issue?

Didn't anyone try this once? What are your experiences with replacing the flexpoint CAP bumper with a regular one from another line (like Microgel or Youtek)?

How much did you spend for custom made tennis racket?

I ran into the same issue when I used the fxp prestige. I also considered using mg/ytk caps but decided not to; it would spill over the invaginated areas, which I wouldn't be okay with :evil:. If you insist on putting it under grommets as opposed to the inner side of the frame (string side), then perhaps you could settle for lead at 10 and 2? sorry that's all i've got

Replacing CAP grommets is really easy(after the first time:)) just order up some MG grommets from TW, take a peek at the CAPing guide and your set.

BTW I recommend using a blow-dryer to heat up the grommets once you get em bout half way in, also taping as you go helps.

No, not at all!
1/4" x 72" Gamma leadtape: $2.99
CAP bumper+grommet set: $4.99
Head Leather Tour Grip: $9.99
$17.97 total.
What a great investment! I have so much to learn from you. I have never made myself a tennis racket. Thanks. -H2O

I appreciate all feedback on this thread but I didn't receive a good answer on my question.

My main question is how to put lead at 3 and 9 under the bumper of the Head Flexpoint Prestige.

I learned two possibilities from this forum:
  1. By putting the lead within the edges of the grommets and drilling holes through the lead from inside to outside of the frame;
  2. Using a straight (MG/YT) CAP bumper. This will fit but an little spillover at the flexpoint dimples.
Which one would be the best solution for me if I want to:
  • increase the swingweight with about 5-10 points;
  • widen the sweetspot a bit;
  • increase the stability.
Or maybe the easiest solution: by putting lead at 10 and 2 o'clock position (instead of at 3 and 9). I only think it wouldn't increase the stability and sweetspot enough for me.

I hope someone might help me with choosing the best option.
