Leaded up my AeroPro Drive

Semi-Pro
added 7 grams, three layered strips from 11 to 1. Have sw/w grip, hit huge topspin already, so that is my type of game....4.5 player. Here are my findings:

It weighs 11.6 strung now, i imagine a high swing weigh though. If i can find an RDC i will find out SW..

1) My forehand was monstrous, incredible spin and a huge heavy ball. Flat serves were not as predictable, was hitting probably 50%, but kick serves were massive. I hit a ton of forehand winners off of serve, both sides of the court. I missed a few too, but I rarely hit winners with lighter rackets. I have very high swing speed, too fast a lot of the time and too upward. Perhaps this slows it down a bit. But i hit more winners than I ever have in my life. There were a couple return games where i had 3 winners and I am more of a grinder player where I just force my opponent into errors. I also have a bunch of drop shot winners where I never hit drop shots. I could just feel the ball much better and was more confident going for droppers. I think I was 4/5 with drop shots....

2) i have a very strong shoulder but it is very sore today!! sore like if i lifted weights yesterday. Is this normal when hitting with a heavier racket? i played 3 sets singles and i think hitting so many big serves made it sore....

3) I had trouble hitting a 2hbh with it being so head heavy. Maybe its because my 2 hander is pretty flat and polarized weight may launch the ball if you hit flat? Anyone had this kind of setup with this racket care to comment how it affected 2hander? Usually with lead at 3 and 9 the backhand is fine....

4) I found the slice to be very unpredictable with all the weight at the top of the frame. Maybe it will come with practice.

5) I see how rafa hits those huge forehand winners from a defensive position where he is running to his left and just hits the ball at the top of the frame. I had a some shots where i was running to my forehand side and could rip it deep crosscourt even in a defensive position because it was like swinging a hammer, once you get it going it hits hard.

The forehands I was hitting though, make me want to work on the other things that didnt come right away....

Anyone care to share their lead setups and how they differed from stock or another type of setup? Should I try one or two strips instead of 3? My goal is to basically hit heavy topspin, i like hitting the ball at the top of the hoop and using the bowling ball type of swing with an open stance.

355 sw. It was MSV focus evo hybrid strung 3 weeks ago at 56 but the strings are garbage so I just restrung with SPPP 1.23 at 58 lb full job. I should have done it at 55 but it will loosen up....

Does it make any difference that the lead isnt applied flush with the contour of the hoop?

How would it be different if all the lead were placed directly on 12 with lets say a series of 1 inch strips on top of each other versus spreading it with a longer strip? Never was able to figure that out...

Nice neat job, there :-?

You added approximately 20-25 SW points to the frame.

As long as the weight is added at the same distance from the balance point, it doesn't matter so the difference between you method and stacking 1in strip at 12' wouldn't be noticeable, at least not by humans.

I agree. Very little difference if the weight in concentrated in 1" strips or is in 3" strips. You're only talking about a difference of 1/4" to 1/2" in distance from the balance point.

It would be interesting to try it on a RDC machine to see what the actual difference would be. I'm guessing 1 SW unit or less.

You guys mentioned that the length of lead tape doesn't matter at 12. But what about at 3/9? Will a 3" lead at 3/9 play differently from 6" in same place?

Swing weight should be more affected but to say it will play differently is a very personal taste. Some will say that they can feel a 1gram difference nad others like me are less picky

great setup there. I was using almost the same as you, but i had counterbalanced with lead under the grip. as you can see from my signature, i've taken some lead off, to help with the shoulder soreness. I wasn't QUITE strong enough to jump up to that setup, no matter how sweet it was.

I also use SPPP in my APDC, as you an see from my signature.

all in all, great setup :)

What lead set up would you guys suggest to help improve the first serve with the adpc? I seem to find it surprisingly harder to generate the same amount of pace and consistency than say my flexpoint rad mp or kblade tour

might want to cut it down to same type setup but 2 or 1 layer instead of 3. Considering switching from PDR to APD. I use a full poly at 61 with the PDR but would probably go 58 with APD. It seems the APD really does add some spin and feel the ball more but a little less power. I will be intriged by the new apdgt coming out which may give it a tiny bit more stability as I am use to the PDR which is crazy stable.
